USA Today, which owns over 200 local newspapers across the country, has partnered with Palantir to gain "actionable intelligence" on its audiences.
Anyone else alarmed by this?
How did Palantir become one of the world's most controversial technology companies? This FT film traces its extraordinary rise and examines what's next for Peter Thiel and Alex Karp's software group. https://t.co/FKsVQ6fMir
Modern billionaires are just so tacky. Go endow a library. Fund research and get your name on a cancer center. Sponsor an eccentric polymath who’s obsessed with marble. Build a museum. Fund public parks. Back climate research. Create something that outlives your ego.
Time to sue Sony!
DoesItPlay? and @StopKilingGames are announcing that we're backing SM&C's (Stichting Massaschade & Consument) lawsuit against Sony over its total control of PlayStation Store pricing. We're putting our full weight behind SM&C's case, with the Dutch court.
SM&C has to show the court it actually represents gamers, not just claims to. Our support backs that up globally. Every Dutch gamer who signs on backs it up directly.
If you're a Dutch PlayStation owner, this is where you come in: https://t.co/S4tiEeg0h5
Signing on there is what proves to the court that real gamers, not just a foundation, stand behind this. This is a class action lawsuit, so even if you're technically covered without signing up, your name on the record is what counts.
Not in the Netherlands? This is one front of many. More coming.
GTA CEO says "discs don't make sense to the consumer".
Made a lot of sense during the recent outages. Make a lot of sense on Christmas. Will continue to make sense for every delisted song in a GTA game.
How much more gaslighting suits does it take for gamers to wake up?
Seeing a lot of discussions about whether you should be fighting for physical OR better digital customer rights. It's honestly heartbreaking that even some larger accounts seem to use physical media as a sacrificial lamb to further the fight for digital rights when we should absolutely be doing both. It's not an either-or. We should stand united on all fronts. Customer rights in the digital space are basically non-existent and there desperately needs to be change.
But no legislation, no lawsuit, no government intervention will save certain properties only physical media possesses.
No law will fill presents at Christmas.
No law will make the eyes of kids shine when they unwrap it.
No law will populate fairs and conventions where you trade games and talk to friends or likeminded players.
No law will let you browse shelves.
No law will save retailers when they have nothing to sell anymore.
No law will give you that feeling when looking at your collection.
Stop belittling the fight for physical media. Stand united with your fellow players. In the end, this affects us all.
Everyone's an ultra brave hero from the safety of their keyboard on the internet.
That AR-15 could put 10 supersonic rounds in your chest before your car got half way there - they'd need dental records to identify your body assuming they could find any of your teeth.
Ban assault rifles.
40,000 kids have been shot and killed since I made this video 9 years ago.
I'm allowed to change my mind when presented with new information.
Ban assault rifles.
This is a point we keep repeating. Losing physical media loses them digital revenue as well. Even losing the second hand market will lose them revenue in other areas. People might be attached to PS5 now because they already bought in, but if PS6 comes and is neither backwards compatible for discs nor the best digital platform available, what's the incentive to spend 1000+ bucks on it? Less adopters means less incentives for devs to develop for the platform. Means less reasons for people to adopt. Means Sony has to force revenue through price hikes. It is a downward spiral in the making. Maybe the only hope is for the AI bubble to burst and component prices to go down again. At least that is a train of thought we have seen on multiple occasions now.
