@Babycakespop @DecampDave What I’m hearing is you think the lives of ~250,000 Japanese people outweigh the millions of Chinese and Korean people the Japanese Empire would’ve murdered, enslaved and raped had they continued to exist. The Rape of Nanjing alone killed a similar number of people to a nuke.

@Babycakespop @DecampDave Like, this was in 1945 and was a civilian government initiative (the people who most wanted peace) and they still were only willing to accept peace provided they kept their pre 1937 borders, the Imperial Cabinet didn’t get tried for warcrimes and the emperor stayed in charge.

@Babycakespop @DecampDave Yes Japan wanted peace, the war was going badly for them, but they absolutely wanted a peace where they got to keep their Empire, do their own war crime trials and keep their military government, the negotiations they did have (with the Soviets) made this pretty clear.

@Babycakespop @DecampDave The Emperor finally decided to sign a peace deal after being nuked twice and the military still tried to coup him, things were falling apart for Japan but the majority before being nuked believed they could hold out for a conditional peace where they could keep their Empire

- Invading Mainland Japan, killing millions more on both sides, with way more civilian deaths (Japanese schoolchildren were literally being given spears and taught how to use them in case of invasion).

@buttflossed @Rurinekooo Yeah and we’re all bad people for not helping out the poor and needy, sorry that Rudeus dared to help out someone when he was under no obligation to I guess, you cant scale how ‘inconvenient’ it is when most people irl do literally nothing/less than him regardless of convenience

@buttflossed @Rurinekooo I’m not the one trying to take the moral high ground over someone who doesn’t spend all their spare money on buying slaves to free, humans are selfish, you aren’t a bad person for valuing financial and personal security, Rudeus isn’t a bad person for doing only ‘one’ good deed.

@Yeszomi @Charlie_leFou @Fleechiru The writer (Kerry) openly stated how hot he found Yang and Weiss (he was part of the decision to make them 17 at the time by the way), then ‘somehow’ the character he voices in the show he writes ends up shamelessly flirting with them for like 2 seasons (w/ it working w/ Weiss).
