The best teams have a “Character first, results second” approach.
The scoreboard isn’t how they judge success. The goal is to be hard-working and have great effort, focus, discipline, accountability, leadership, and toughness.
If you put character first, the results will come.

"Players play. Tough players win." (Tom Izzo)
Tough players play through situations. They compete regardless of the circumstances. They keep playing in spite of poor officiating. They play tough when they are tired. They gut it out when adversity hits. Tough players win!
Games reveal what you do in practice.
Practices reveal what you do on your own.
What you do on your own reveals your character and your ability to motivate yourself.
Win the mental game ➡️ Win practices ➡️ Win games
Players: Coaches know you aren’t all in when you:
Act like you’re “above” others
Make excuses
Don’t listen with ears & eyes
Shut down when coached
Don’t communicate
Think rules don’t apply to you
Don’t do extra work
Pout when subbed/benched
Don’t support teammates
Play for “me”
When the ball is loose on the floor in traffic, compete...
Bending over at the waist reaching for the ball = Non Compete
Diving, dropping to the floor and grabbing it = Competing
One way loses games...one way wins games
