Where are the accountability gaps?

From water infrastructure and agriculture to school feeding, social protection and climate resilience, how resources are planned, allocated and monitored matters.

As we mark #InternationalYouthDay2026 under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” one aspiration stands out clearly: young people want a real say in the decisions that shape their future.

Our upcoming #RestlessConversations X Space will explore how stronger accountability and meaningful youth participation can contribute to longer-term solutions to hunger in Karamoja.

Because hunger is not only about food. It is also about who gets heard, how decisions are made, and whether those decisions deliver.

🌾 Food insecurity is expected to remain structurally persistent in parts of #Karamoja.

According to the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) assessment, approximately 473,000 people in Karamoja are facing acute food insecurity between April and July 2026, including 41,000 people in Emergency conditions.

Following the first-ever #KaramojaYouthSummit, we are extending the discussion by asking: how can accountable governance and the meaningful participation of young people help shape stronger, long-term responses to hunger?
