The primary obstacle at this point to passing universal schools meal at #mnleg is that FRPL status is used to calculate compensatory revenue as described by @CallaghanPeter here:

Putting this out into the #mnleg hive mind: using medicaid direct certification for identifying students who qualify for free meals makes FRPL forms obsolete.

Don't need 'em for calculating compensatory revenue, and won't need 'em once we pass universal meals. Time to let go.

A great bday present in the form of some great results! 72% of Minnesotans polled at the State Fair believe in allocating funds to provide free menstrual products to our students. I’m proud to author legislation that tackles menstrual equity and aims to end period poverty in MN.

Today we announced that Minnesota will expand the availability of free meals to 90,000 new students this school year.

This project means fewer kids will go hungry at school. As a former teacher for 20+ years, I know that this is hugely important to help students succeed.
