1 in 3 have them in our school, we have over 10% EHCP many with the most significant needs as there are no special school places in our area.
Funding that should be the governments responsibility in no way meets needs.
We have more pupils , more SEND but less staff
Councils have an estimated £2.3 billion high needs deficit. It’s presented as unsustainable. The national service programme is estimated as £2.5 billion annually.
💬 “Three quarters of head teachers said they’d had to reduce the number of teaching assistants, despite an increase of 20% in the number of pupils.”
A welcome mention from Lord Watson in a House of Lords debate which focused on our research on school funding 👇
Pinched from @vicgoddard but totally how we, as leaders, feel
I am tired
I’m tired of funding that doesn’t match expenditure.
I’m tired of having to say no to the member of staff that wants things to support a child.
I’m tired of there not being enough teachers to go round.

Quote of the day: “Simplify, slow down, be kind. And don’t forget to have art in your life – music, paintings, theater, dance, and sunsets.” — Eric Carle
Here it is -the reason they won’t fix Ofsted or single word judgements. Forget teachers’ stress. Forget what’s best for children. Ofsted is a soundbite. While buckets sit under classroom ceilings, kids are hungry, SEN in crisis & schools the only service left for families. Shame.
Acting is tough... However, teaching is like putting on 6 improv shows a day, where the audience talks and constantly interrupts you to use the bathroom and asks unrelated questions, and the audience has to pass a test at the end to ensure that they were paying attention.
@Alex_Bramley3 Some days, it's beautiful, like conducting an orchestra.
Some days, it's like doing an ultrathon in the dark. In the wrong shoes. With no map.

Two and a half weeks until the end of term and we still cannot set a budget because you won’t release the pay information. You are causing stress and anxiety. We can’t plan activities for the children and you are letting them down. @GillianKeegan @halfon4harlowMP @educationgovuk
This time last year we had just found out my granddad had cancer. By July he was gone. This is your reminder to take the pictures, send the messages, make the phone calls, go to visit. I should never have waited so long to start doing that. ❤️
Gillian, this isn’t great at all. You can’t grow staff from these seeds. It’s embarrassing. Do your job, listen to the sector and implement urgent changes.
The Government is failing children with lack of funding which would have a huge impact on pupils, but @karren_brady it’s always easier to punch down rather than up isn’t it.
