Rockets offensive woes are captured well by considering late game FTs. Even healthy, you literally only have Fred who you can count on to knock two down when a big game is close. For most of the roster, you're lucky to get 1 of 2.
SI’s @BinkleyHoops thinks the biggest takeaway for the Rockets from watching the NBA Finals is the need for offensive improvement
“Of course, the biggest improvement has to come from the 3-point arc, as both Finals teams have shown they can punish opponents from 3-point range, something the Rockets have struggled with for years.”
@stfukhi I think he's a great player (most valuable on HOU for sure). But I think "untouchable" really should be reserved for very few players in the NBA, period, and Amen isn't in that category (yet) imo.
@mshap2@GormanChristoph@SamQuinnCBS@mshap2 any idea why not? It doesn't seem to be too crazy an idea (doesn't have to be this proposal specifically), but moving KD to more of a win-now situation for draft assets and role players could definitely be a win-win, esp if the FO is saying they're not on KDs timeline
Not all that controversial tbh though I know it's not popular sentiment among the fanbase. Unfortunately, the roster is full of flawed players who are pretty inefficient on O save KD, and as inefficient as Sengun has been, he's been the best option after KD which says something
Wow. Sam Vecenie goes in on Alperen Sengun:
- “He is worse than the sum of his parts.”
- ‘It would be OK[holding the ball] if he were an efficient scorer. He isn’t.’
- “I think it’s really hard to win at the highest level in the playoffs with someone isn’t a great defender.”
The Heat and Tyler Herro appear headed toward a divorce this offseason, regardless of whether the All-Star guard is included in a deal for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
@esidery Anyone who says it's an overpay doesn't remember the Desmond Bane trade. Elite role players aren't cheap and that's definitely a market rate proposal.
@ByVarunShankar Honestly, I find them to be pretty likable as a team. Wemby is a legit phenom, they have grit, very few antics or foul baiting, and they win playing hard.
"Whoever came to the team through trades had to adapt to our system. There was no stepping out of line... until Carmelo Anthony arrived." (laughs) 😅😅
"He was always late for everything. Terry Stotts was traumatized by players being late, but with Carmelo... if practice started at 10:00 AM, he'd show up at 10:45. He had that flexibility. We started joking: 'Where's Carmelo? Where's Carmelo?'" (laughs) 🤣
Jusuf Nurkic jokingly recalled what Carmelo Anthony's arrival to the Portland Trail Blazers looked like, joining a well-established system and a locker room culture that was perfectly led by Damian Lillard. 🏀
Real life trades also have to consider things like the cap, player extensions, existing roster and needs, what can be addressed via the draft, and so on.
Most fan trade proposals on this app are effectively "here are my worst/least liked players for some of your most valuable assets." Real life trades usually require concessions on both sides and aren't just one side getting fleeced.
