Heaven Birthday, Marion Motley🕯️
In 1946, the #Browns' legendary fullback was one of four Black players to bust pro football's racial barrier after a 12-year segregation period.
A member of the NFL's 75th Anniversary and NFL100 All-Time Teams, Marion was the NFL's first Black rushing champion and the AAFC's all-time leading rusher.
He averaged a whopping 5.7 yards per carry — a record for fullbacks, but was also a skilled receiver, a devastating blocker, and often played at linebacker on defense. #DawgPound
In 1968, Marion returned to the town in which he grew up — Canton, Ohio, immortalized as the Pro Football Hall of Fame's second Black inductee.
The Vegas Golden Knights could not skate past the storm called Fatigue tonight. Costly penalties stemming from fatigue led to numerous breakdowns. Vince Lombardi once said, “Fatigue makes cowards of us all; you cannot play fatigued!” Stanley Cup Final - Game 2
NFL Films president Steve Sabol discusses the "hatchet men" and the vicious style of play during the late-1960s and early-'70s — and the league's attitude towards it.
