It's been over a year since I launched @HostmastersUK to help fill the void left when an out of touch @nominet exec shutdown the official one... now working with Nominet to launch a new (official) forum as part of the UKRAC. How times have changed in just a year! :)

[Dan Rodgers 🇺🇦 @dansgalaxy]

Calling @Nominet members! - Don't forget the UKRAC vote closes at 5PM TODAY!

If you haven't voted yet, please do vote and have your say!

(Look for email with subject: Final Reminder: Nominet - UKRAC Election 2021 in your inbox!)

Even if it isn't for me, VOTE!

The Nominet EGM lead by @publicbenefituk passed. Five members of the Nominet board have been removed and Nominet has realised just how important it is to listen to members. Keep it going, join the discussion at https://t.co/xFgQUJ7Aip

[Nominet @Nominet]

EGM: motion to remove 5 Board members has passed. Our contingency plan is now in effect. Rob Binns, Acting Chair, will write to members tonight with details. Priorities are stability and working with members and stakeholders to agree a future path. More: https://t.co/QWFovtBBqz

Hopefully email notifications should be working again soon pending DNS Caches. Incoming email likely not working yet so best to reply on the web for now.

[Hostmasters.UK @HostmastersUK]

While our main website and email is down, discourse is still up at https://t.co/zTQpJFKyEA - If you're looking to apply please email [email protected] for the moment.

[Hostmasters.UK @HostmastersUK]

@BenRavetta Yep, cPanel PowerDNS cluster. (also excuse the awful typos and auto-corrects in that last tweet... was typed far too quickly)

[Hostmasters.UK @HostmastersUK]

Okay, not to panic too much - correction, the website for https://t.co/2cd5g3KnK3 is in the affected DC, anyone having issues getting to https://t.co/WNJl8hORF4 is likely having a DNS issue as 1/3 of our DNS servers is affected (currently being rerouted).

[Hostmasters.UK @HostmastersUK]

@BenRavetta Yes they do ofc, and most people it still works fine for. But despite popular believe my experience tells me that most software is crap and 1 out of 3 DNS servers being down still means some people see it as down. ;) ... the website is down down though until I move it.

[Hostmasters.UK @HostmastersUK]

Unfortunately the server where our https://t.co/Qbt6J48DYW Discourse is hosted is in OVH SBG (where there's been a huge fire...) and is currently offline - we're working on figuring out what this means for us!

Since we no longer have a @Nominet forum....We are talking about the @publicbenefituk EGM on the @hostmastersUK forum https://t.co/CXbWQNLma5

[Public Benefit .UK @publicbenefituk]

"I urge all Nominet members to support this EGM motion and return Nominet to its original aims of serving the UK internet."
- Nigel Titley, one of the Founders of Nominet

[Public Benefit .UK @publicbenefituk]

I think I'm going to side with Sir Michael's judgement on this one Russell.

[Public Benefit .UK @publicbenefituk]

From Nigel Titley, Nominet co-Founder;

"The original founders set up Nominet in the spirit of cooperation and mutual benefit which pervaded the internet and which made it one of the best places to be at the end of the 20th Century."

[Public Benefit .UK @publicbenefituk]

Thank you Ivan! It seems (nearly) everyone wants this campaign to succeed and Nominet restored.
