You'd really think it should be pretty easy for @cloudflare to not populate DNS records with their own proxy records when moving domains between Cloudflare accounts and importing the zonefile export... Instead have to delete all the proxy records every. damn. time. >.>
@Cloudflare@cloudflare If you can just give us an option to add a domain and skip DNS auto-import that'd be real helpful... I'm going to import the zone anyway!
@chrisgreybrexit Also lets not forget, quite a chunk of that 17.4M are now 6ft under, current polling suggests the majority would reverse it.
Personally I think if we're going to bang on about democracy, what counts is what people think now not 7 years ago...
Hearty congratulations to @wright_s! Now the hard work begins ๐
I think we probably have the best set of NEDs in a long long time with @wright_s, @publicbenefituk, @kierenmccarthy and Ashley! Excellent mix of experience and skills.
Congratulations to Steve Wright (@wright_s) on his election to the @nominet board as our newest Non-Executive Director, and thanks to our candidates Thomas Rickert and David Thornton for taking part. More information to follow.
Nominet members! Go vote, time is almost up!
Don't miss your chance to vote for our member-elected @Nominet NED (I suggest @wright_s) and those all important articles resolutions.
No matter how you vote, vote!
There's some irony when you start debating blocking abuse reporters (ahem @abusix) because they're spamming you with spam reports for the same thing... Yeah, I really don't need a thousand reports for the same thing thanks guys.
@adamRrrr@Nominet That could be a standard transfer lock (clientTransferProhibited) which is meant to protect the domain against theft and accidental transfers.
@splashweb@Nominet I'm all for holding them to account, but they're doing this because members wanted them to spend the surplus on things which actually impact our industry... like supporting open source software! This is an improvement.
@LouTreleaven @CarolBevitt @Nominet@Nominet is the domain name registry, it looks like the registrar (who may also be the webhost) is @namesilo - You can make an abuse report for it here: https://t.co/sul1mJSSnM
@kierenmccarthy@cipnt ... I could go on but I have a day job to do rn. I'm open to a chat off this mess of a platform to get into a bit more detail than this place allows for.
@kierenmccarthy@cipnt 3, Promptly accept mistakes and correct the record when shown to be inaccurate, misleading, etc. Why do we still keep having unnecessary drama which takes Nominet weeks to acknowledge?
@kierenmccarthy@cipnt 2, Providing more than just sentiment, which is good, but on it's own is not a cause for celebration - handing back power to the members to demonstrate that the board/exec actually trust us with the future of the company members control.
@kierenmccarthy@cipnt Change looks like to me:
1, NOT stating a deadline (8th Sept) for paying bills to maximise votes, encouraging we do so, and then changing the date to calculate votes to 1st Sept.
This breeds distrust, disenfranchisement and disengagement. The exact opposite of what we need.
@kierenmccarthy@cipnt I am not detracting from the positive change. It is very welcome. But DESPITE the new CEO, CTO, Board etc we are still seeing the same type of issues again and again. That's the point, something is still very broken with how *new* decisions are being made.
@kierenmccarthy@cipnt As are reports of people who shouldn't be able to vote, voting - https://t.co/mOiNJ4upqZ
And changing the deadlines after the fact, disenfranchising voters... Seriously, I WANT TO BELIEVE, but this all makes it damn hard to defend.
