Yesterday, Republicans brought forward some of the most extreme anti-immigrant legislation we’ve seen yet in House Judiciary. Nothing to keep Americans or immigrants from being shot down in the streets of America by ICE, but a big effort to strip away the rights of immigrant children to be represented in court. They passed this ridiculously named “Permanent Trump Border Security Act” because they want Trump to think he’s going to be president forever. We’ll stop it on the floor—down with monarchy, long live Democracy.

In opening remarks, RM @RepRaskin calls out the inhumane conditions at Delaney Hall and other ICE detention centers, where tens of thousands of people – 90% of whom have no criminal record – are being held in horrifying conditions.

Delaney Hall is owned and operated by GEO Group, a private, for-profit prison contractor that has a billion-dollar government contract to operate the facility for Trump’s DHS. Private prisons pocket these lavish contracts and provide spoiled food, freezing cells, scalding showers, and physical abuse by guards. And Delaney Hall is no isolated case. Across America, the depraved bureaucratic indifference of ICE and extravagant profiteering of its corporate partners create ghastly conditions.
