Heaven on Earth

WE WON’T HAVE MARRIAGE IN HEAVEN.

This may sound uncomfortable, especially if you deeply love your spouse, but Jesus Himself said it.

Marriage is a beautiful gift from God, but marriage belongs to this earthly life.

One day, death will no longer exist. There will be no need for husbands and wives as we know them today. There will be no weddings, no divorces, no widowhood, no marital conflicts and no separation.

We will all belong completely to Christ.

This should change the way we view marriage today.

Your spouse is not your ultimate destination.
Your children are not your ultimate destination.
Your career is not your ultimate destination.
Your possessions are not your ultimate destination.

Jesus is.

Build your marriage. Love your spouse. Honour your covenant. Raise your children in the fear of God.

But never allow an earthly relationship to become more important than your relationship with God.

Because one day, earth will pass away, the resurrection will come, and we will stand before God—not as married couples, but as people who belong to Christ.

Prepare for eternity.

Mesopotamia. Rome. The Viking Age. The ratio held.

In 1926, a good cow cost $22. A $20 gold coin held 0.9675 ounces of gold. Almost exactly one ounce per cow.

Today, a young productive beef cow sells for $4,000 to $5,000 at auction. Gold sits around $4,500 an ounce.

The ratio has held for five millennia, and still holds today.
