This is what Jewish & Muslim solidarity looks like. Neighbors coming together around a vision of shared safety, dignity & peace. In NYC. In DC. In Israel & Palestine, and across the world.
We're united around a belief that a better world is possible — one in which we don’t compromise on anyone’s humanity. One in which we are not complicit in occupation & genocide. One in which everyone has a home they can afford, with no bombs falling on it, in a place where they are both safe and free.
A wholehearted thank you to @JFREJNYC, @IfNotNowOrg, @EmgageAction, Muslim Democratic Club of NYC, @israelispeaceny, @MaozInon, @AzizAbuSarah, Ruth Messinger, Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum, Mohsen Mahdawi, @ShahanaFromBK, and of course @ZohranKMamdani. And to the hundreds of neighbors who joined us for our canvass this afternoon.
Our first TV ad is up! 📺
We’ve got a fascist president, rogue ICE agents and billionaires trying to buy our elections. But around here, neighbors showing up for each other is how we fight back.
My neighbors and I approve this message.
Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed.
Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us — one of home, tradition and memory over generations.
When we came into office, we uncovered a $12 billion budget deficit.
Today, I’m proud to say we brought it down to zero.
We didn’t close the gap on the backs of working people.
We closed it while funding parks, libraries, safer streets and making historic investments in public housing.
Call it Pothole Politics. Call it Democratic Socialism. It's government that delivers for the people who make this city run.
That’s what New Yorkers deserve. And that’s what we will keep fighting for every single day.
Today marks four years since my aunt, Shireen Abu Akleh, was killed by an Israeli sniper in Jenin.
An iconic journalist, and one of the most empathetic and sweetest people. This is who they killed. She loved life, but they stole hers from her.
Critical take from Israel's Foreign Ministry on my column about sexual assaults of Palestinian men, women and children. You can read my piece here through a gift link: https://t.co/SL0oxguNmi
Abdul El-Sayed: “AIPAC and Israel are not the same as Judaism and the Jewish people. I love Judaism and I love the Jewish people. The single most dangerous thing they’ve tried to tell us is somehow they can extend the definition of antisemitism to include a foreign government and its leaders. I call bullshit”
It was great to join @franifio to talk about our recent trip to Cuba, what the US is doing there, and why the right-wing influencer set is freaking out. You can watch here: https://t.co/u4PSCjgzzd
