Every year there is an NBA team that completely overperforms consensus expectations. In 20-21, it was the Knicks. In 21-22, it was the Bulls. In 22-23, it was the Kings.
Who will it be in 23-24?
Joel Embiid will be right at home in Houston.
“I had this DVD that my coach in Cameroon had mailed to me when I first came to America.
“I probably watched that DVD every single day for three years. I would study the way Hakeem moved, and I would go out and try to imitate him.”
“Unlikely” Incentives for #Rockets players next season:
Kevin Porter Jr:
$4.758M — play at least 60 games (includes playoffs)
Dillon Brooks:
$1M — Make the playoffs
Jae’Sean Tate:
500K — Rockets win 35 games
Thoughts/how many happen?
“Players are so good. [Brooks] is going to guard the best players… you think he’s going guard them like everybody else in the league is going to guard them… No! Lean on em push em bump em get in his head before the game after the game make sure he’s thrown off at any cost because we need to win this game!”

To sum Whitmore’s situation as him “magically fell” is kinda disingenuous considering the FO moved out of last years draft, paused on trading EG, they were criticized p heavy for it, and then traded him to move up 10 slots. The FO put themselves in a perfect spot to “get lucky”
These past few years of tanking together has intertwined our fan base with the Pistons, Magic and Thunders.. as we all move on to try to become winners I think we should squash the beef and team up on the Lakers and Warriors.. we got next
Cam Whitmore thinks that he can win rookie of the year.
Doesn’t sound like a guy who expects to not be playing very much. Hopefully he plays so well that he forces some tough decisions.
Amen and Ausar Thompson both see each other being broadcasters outside of basketball:
I can see it! Excited to see their careers play out on and off the court.
Still hard to believe how much of a coaching upgrade the #Rockets made this off-season across the board.
Elite assistants only make your head coaches job a lot easier, and that’s what Ben Sullivan is, an elite assistant.
Excited to see what impact this new staff has on these #Rockets players.
