I live just a few miles outside of Bend Oregon. My daughter lives there. I worked for the my towns school district for 35 years. My best friend is a Principal in Bend. I have many friends there.

I’m angry tonight, extremely angry. I’m angry that 4 families just had their lives torn apart. I’m angry that this liberal town is already showing sympathy towards the shooter and questioning why the hero who saved countless lives illegally had a firearm on school property. I’m angry that most of the rhetoric is about banning guns and not about figuring out why another messed up teenager decided to carry out one of the most evil acts possible, shooting innocent children.

Maybe my heart is in the wrong place. I’m deeply hurt for the victims families and praying for them. However, I’m raging over the fact that our leaders are already making political statements less than 4 hours after it happened.

Three families kissed their kids goodbye for the last time and a spouse kissed their loved one goodbye for the last time.

Someone knew this kid’s intentions and did nothing.

“I want to talk about what it's like to be a white girl in a majority Black school”

She explains that she was jumped and physically assaulted constantly. She says the disruptions in class were so bad that nobody could learn and that’s where the real problem is

“There were daily disruptions, kids acting out in class, sometimes getting physical with the teachers — I think a lot of people think that the issue in these schools is lack of funding or bad teachers or something like that, but we had plenty of funding.
We had Palm Pilots in our classrooms.

The biggest problem that I saw is that the school tolerated the disruptors too much. You know, the 10% of kids that were there that, you know, had emotionally unstable lives at home that would cause, you know, outbursts during class, who would threaten other students, they really made it so that the other kids were not able to learn.

It would create these environments that were just incredibly hostile to getting an education — We were failed by a system that will not punish disruptors, that will not send them to alternative schools. We are failing all of our students in this country by allowing this behavior to occur instead of just addressing it face on. We need to bring back alternative schools for kids, and we need to kick the ones out who aren't there to actually learn. It's just some hard truths, but it's really the only thing that'll fix it.”

I’d just like to say that when I was in school, if kids repeatedly acted like this they would get kicked out. They would have to a separate high school, it was known as a “continuation high school”

This is what we need to bring back. Students who don’t act right should be held accountable and removed from school so they don’t interfere with the other students learning

He gives a full explanation, it’s a little complicated so I’ll explain

There is a major trial about to start that will finally kick off payments to fire victims. There were 2 bills that would have greatly helped fire victims get what they’re owed and quickly. Gavin Newsom vetoed both of them to aid the utility companies (his donors) and screw over the fire victims. Here’s what happened:

The 2 bills vetoed were:

SB 877 (loss-estimate transparency) This would have required insurers to give policyholders the original loss estimates prepared by the company’s adjusters, plus later revisions

SB 878 (deadlines and interest on delays) This would put claims timelines into statute and attached a financial penalty. Insurers would have had to acknowledge a residential claim within 15 days, accept or deny it in writing within 40 days and pay the accepted amount within 30 days. This means including actual cash value on a total loss within 30 days of that determination or interest would accrue

So the significance here is that the trial is about to happen, it would kick off the payments to fire victims

These bills would have gotten Fire victims all the documents needed for them to get paid correctly and quickly

But Newsom vetoed the bills, forcing fire victims to be still in limbo without the documents they need and not forcing the insurance companies to provide the correct updated estimates or anything

This isn’t shocking because Gavin Newsom’s donors are these public utility companies

The doctor told her they’d have the pathology report ready within five business days.

Friday afternoon rolled around. No call.
She dialed the clinic’s main desk, her voice shaking with anxiety.

The receptionist cut her off before she could finish explaining:

“Doctor doesn’t give results over the phone anymore. All lab findings are automatically released to your MyChart patient portal.”

My aunt said, “Sweetheart, I don’t have a computer. I have a landline on my kitchen wall. Can the doctor just tell me if I have cancer?”

The receptionist sighed into the receiver:
“It’s hospital network policy. We can’t bypass the portal. You’ll have to have a family member create an account and view the file.”

My aunt spent an entire seventy-two-hour weekend sitting in her recliner, gripping her reading glasses, convinced she was dying.

I drove out to her house on Monday morning, set up a profile on my laptop, and pulled up the records.

The result was benign.

The pathology report had been uploaded four days earlier.

A doctor spent three minutes clicking an upload button, and an elderly woman endured four days of sheer psychological terror because the hospital decided a phone call was too expensive.
