a solid chunk of the "saying you need to play the games is classist" people aren't actually poor. they're just 14 year olds without jobs whose parents won't buy them games
why the hell do you all care so much about being 'fans'. thats the core of this issue because its just exacerbating how awful fandom culture is, people just wanna be seen as a fan for external validation and so they can participate in useless discourse
When I was in high school and white kids would call me nigga I’d say “CAN YOU PLEASE NOT CALL ME THE N WORD” as loud as I could so the whole class would hear and they’d say “wtf are you talking about I didnt say that” their ability to lie so defiantly like they genuinely believed what they were saying was scary as fuck
“watching a game” discourse again… this would all be eliminated if people didn’t put “story” at a pedestal above all else and instead also viewed gameplay as essential to the storytelling
You can be a fan of a game without playing it but you have to acknowledge your experience is fundamentally lacking bc you didn’t play it yourself
Yay that simple discourse over
Niggas don’t understand that playing the game allows you to have a better understanding of it than just watching it. Just because a game is story focused doesn’t mean you can just ignore the gameplay and never touch the sticks
You watch movies, you read books, you play games. How hard is it to understand not engaging with the medium you call yourself a fan of is considered larp
@RhockoHarrison it's also supposed to showcase how shit her life is. Her idea of a good time is to go to walmart with dad cause then at least she has a normal experience with him instead of him being drunk and sleeping on the couch or gone for hours
