I am an assistant professor at Oberlin College interested in dopamine, decision making, and reinforcement. Father of 2, avid musician, and amateur gardener.
Well I thought I was done here, but I haven't found Bluesky to be super useful (yet!). I am curious if anyone in #neuroscience has reviewed for #Qeios. I got asked to review by an AI editor today? I think? I feel weird about that, is this a force of good or evil?
How quickly can rodents adapt to changes in time durations in their environment? Work from @oberlincollege suggests they can recognize and respond extremely quickly, hinting at a rapid mechanism for learning about time in the brain.https://t.co/1zJtckzLqa
I’m making the switch! If you are a scientist and you have not switched already, please consider duplicate posting over here so I can keep up with your work. So long and thanks for all the fish!

Hi Undergraduate Researchers and Mentors of the Midwest! Oberlin College will be hosting mGluRs this year on November 2, 2024. Please save the date; registration info to follow!
Hi NeuroTwitter! I have been away for months (NeuroX now?). I am curious- could anyone direct me to a kind neurogenesis researcher whose brain I could pick? I am tenured now 🙌and I get to try stuff I am not at all qualified for.
Hey Neuroscience Twitter! I’m looking for a last minute guest lecturer to talk slice phys / life in grad school for an upper-level undergrad neurophys course next week. Anyone know grad students who may be interested? MWF 11am EST
Great opportunity for Neuroscience/Biology/Chemistry/Psychology graduates to join the team at Oberlin College! https://t.co/UwErZT7P4K
Feel free to send me a message or email me if you have any questions, happy to discuss!
@nanopharmNC @merwe_rochelle@NadelNeurosci@ghanemarwan Haha, I once told a colleague that I called my dog by different names at times, he was so horrified he called me Chis the rest of the time I worked with him. I consider it a term of endearment
Back from Twitter vacation to give a shoutout to @merwe_rochelle@NadelNeurosci@ghanemarwan et al. for our latest from the lab. We explored dopamine projections and their role in reversal during a self-stimulation reversal task. Excellent work team! https://t.co/7uHjReJOzE
Oberlin College is searching for an assistant prof in neurodevelopment who is interested in working with and training a highly skilled group of undergraduates! If you’re interested, I would be happy to address any questions you might have. https://t.co/58qBTU0J3m
Super happy to share new work from the lab produced by an all-star team of @oberlincollege researchers. We were fortunate to be selected by @ELSneuroscience editors as the Editor's Choice for BBR this month! https://t.co/8i0H59e1BF
We investigated the effects of the commercially-popular drug CBD on habit formation and found it modestly slowed learning new action-outcome associations but did not affect habit formation as assessed by reinforcer devaluation, in a sex-dependent manner.
Also, please reach out if you have questions! choward at Oberlin . edu (coded to dodge sneaky Twitter bots)
Not mentioned in the ad, but there is likely an opportunity here to do a bit of your own independent research with OC students as well!
Hello! Oberlin College is hiring a Visiting Professor to teach an upper-level and introductory neuroscience course/lab in a cell/molecular field. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in getting great teaching experience. Please RT! https://t.co/nTZDTzexlO
@LBurg Thanks and oh no! I had the worst cold when I got back, but three negative rapids and a negative PCR… I still kind of think I had it. Speedy recovery, and maybe we’ll just have to hang in Utah next year!
So glad #wcbr was last week and not this week. Juuuust made it back for an early delivery. Hello Kit Howard. Welcome to earth! It’s weird but pretty awesome sometimes.
