Almond verbena is native to Argentina. It has an upright habit with slightly weeping, sometimes ungainly branches. In areas with mild winters the mature plants reach 15 feet in height and 6 feet in width.
At the branch tips are highly fragrant, delicate white flower spikes which sway gracefully at the slightest breeze, sending their aroma wafting over great distances. The buddleia-like flowers are produced in cycles from early spring through summer to fall. The wonderful flowers are a magnet to butterflies, bees, wasps and other nectar feeding pollinators.

Not a threat. Not an issue. From the Dallas Morning News Jan. 16, 2026:
Most grocery stores use some sort of misting system on their fruits and vegetables. The dewy sheen makes the produce look fresher and more appealing. No one wants to buy wilted lettuce or sad-looking tomatoes. The produce shower is usually plain water or water mixed with a small amount of antimicrobial pesticides.
One of these antimicrobial pesticides is Environmental Protection Agency-registered Produce Maxx. The agent contains hypochlorous acid and has a slight chlorine-like smell. It helps kill E.coli, Salmonella and Listeria bacteria. It's designed to make your food safer, not soak it in chemicals. Produce Maxx is registered as a pesticide because it kills pests, in this case germs not insects. It doesn't contain herbicides or antibiotics.
The subject of planarians, known as hammerhead flatworms, came up in questions that were answered during the May 16 Dirt Doctor podcast. Don't just smash them, dispose of them properly or one will turn into many. Here's more information if you want to get a look at them and know what to do about them.
