Since 1980, UK councils sold 2.8m social homes, 1.9m in England for £51bn.

Councils didn't receive full sales proceeds, couldn't replenish housing stock.
Social homes down from 6.8m to 5.4m.

This may well be the last time Europe extends an invitation to clowns to mark D-Day. Not a single person in the Trump administration comes close to having the character those landings demanded. The Americans who stormed those beaches on June 6, 1944 were fighting against exactly the kind of people Hegseth represents
This Friday, 12 June, 4 young activists who broke into an Israeli weapons factory in Bristol - and were convicted of criminal damage - face sentencing AS TERRORISTS.
This is unprecedented in British legal history. We have to act now!
4 things you can do... 🧵
1) RAISE AWARENESS
Put up posters & hand out flyers anywhere and everywhere - in real life & on social media. Everything you need is in this folder https://t.co/brLd1cOs3b
59 years ago the ancient Mughrabi Quarter of Jerusalem was razed to the ground, in order to build the Western Wall Plaza. Yes, the place where celebrities like to visit and show their support for the racist, genocidal, apartheid state of Israel.
--------
The Mughrabi Quarter of Jerusalem, established in the 12th century, was located in front of the Wailing Wall, and on the eve of its destruction was home to around 650 Palestinians. Immediately after its occupation in June 1967 it was completely demolished, overnight, by the Israeli authorities.
Although most inhabitants were forcibly evacuated in the hours prior to the demolition, a few people were later found dead amongst the ruins. Some of the corpses were disposed as garbage, thrown out with rest of the rubble.
All of this was done in order to make room for the Wailing Wall Plaza, a spacious, photogenic plaza for Jewish worshippers and tourists.
In the photos: the Mughrabi Quarter in 1917, the demolition in 1967, and the plaza nowadays.

Hey @SkyNews it's NOT...
"Israel's Occupied West Bank "
We know you say that for a reason.
It IS...
"Palestine's Occupied West Bank"
PART OF INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED PALESTINE OCCUPIED TERRITORY.
An Albanian woman explains why RIOTS are erupting across ALBANIA.
Two names she mentions; Ivanka Trump and Albania’s PM Edi Rama.
Albanians are accusing their government of selling out the country while ordinary people pay the price.
⭕️ UK Green Party leader Zack Polanski is highlighting the case of Marwan Barghouti, the most well-known Palestinian political prisoner, held in Israeli detention for 25 years. “Good. Let’s talk about Marwan Barghouti,” Polanski wrote in response to a pro-Israel tweet, noting an Inter-Parliamentary Union report found Barghouti was not given a fair trial.
Andy Burnham doesn't know what Rachel Reeves' fiscal rules are.
Yet he'd still keep them if he became Prime Minister 🤷
Whoever leads Labour, it's the same recipe: under-investment, crumbling infrastructure and managed decline.
Vote Green for the investment our country needs.
Israel just closed the only crossing bringing food into Gaza.
No explanation. No warning. Just closed.
Tomorrow the price of everything goes up. The day after, the shelves get thinner. The week after, the kitchens start making harder decisions.
This is the strategy, not a side effect.
Mysterious ‘cold blob’ in the Atlantic suggests the AMOC is weakening
A patch of ocean south-east of Greenland is the only place on Earth that is cooling, and it could be a sign that the warm water “conveyor belt” in the Atlantic is slowing down

The Israelis are about to execute 12,000 Palestinians prisoners, including women and children. Israel is a fascist, imperialist state. It should be dismantled.
A DOCTOR REPORTED DEAD BABIES. THE NHS BUILT A KANGAROO COURT TO SACK HER.
Dr Feyi Awotona was a consultant obstetrician and head of the labour ward at South Tyneside hospital. Between 1998 and 2002 she raised concerns about a high infant death rate and the appalling treatment of female patients.
She also raised fears about how women regarded certain male consultants in the gynaecology department.
The hospital did not investigate those concerns. Instead, according to a Newcastle employment tribunal, management set up what the judge described as a "kangaroo court" with the express purpose of removing her from her post.
She was sacked in 1998. She was offered £85,000 to go quietly. She refused.
In 2002 the tribunal ruled her dismissal was "irredeemably tainted by unlawful victimisation." It also found racial discrimination. Dr Awotona called on health secretary Alan Milburn to act and protect other NHS whistleblowers from the same treatment.
Nobody went to prison. Nobody resigned.
The trust was ordered to reinstate her. It took years.
She eventually returned to her post, was told to complete refresher training at a hospital in North Tyneside, and then the process stalled.
She quit in May 2005 after delays she described as intolerable.
In September 2005 she was awarded £1 million in compensation.
Her solicitor was direct about what that money actually meant. The experience Dr Awotona had endured made it unlikely she would ever return to a career in the @NHS.
The families of the patients whose deaths she flagged deserve to know what happened to those concerns.
They never got that answer.
