Elon Musk just said what no economist will: the entire system is about to break and nothing can stop it.

AI and robotics aren’t generating growth. They’re destroying the scarcity framework economics depends on.

Musk: “It will hit us like a supersonic tsunami.”

Production compounds exponentially. Money supply grows linearly. Productivity sustaining permanent double-digit expansion. Numbers that sound impossible becoming baseline.

Not evolution. Replacement.

Musk: “Prices collapse hard.”

Not decline. Implosion. AI strips out labor costs, eliminates production errors, removes every inefficiency keeping goods expensive. Manufacturing anything approaches zero marginal cost while quality accelerates.

Governments will react on instinct. Print money. Inject stimulus. Playbook designed for scarcity economies colliding with abundance they have no framework to understand.

Musk: “GDP metrics are already meaningless.”

Every economic model assumes constrained labor, limited output, gradual improvement. AI doesn’t work within those boundaries. It deletes them as variables.

Production explodes. Central banks flood liquidity. Prices collapse regardless because physical abundance scales faster than any monetary intervention can match.

The production wave outruns policy response. Always.

Deflation signals crisis in every historical model. But this isn’t demand collapse. It’s supply going infinite.

The economy isn’t failing. It’s transforming beyond tools built to measure scarcity.

Power belongs to whoever controls the systems generating unlimited output. Money becomes secondary when production costs vanish. Policy makers are steering with instruments calibrated for limits that stopped existing.

This already started. And the people running things have zero answers for what happens when their entire profession becomes obsolete overnight.

Hinton: “They are no longer science fiction.”

This isn’t about chatbots stealing jobs. It’s about digital minds concluding that humans are obstacles and acting faster than we can comprehend, let alone stop.

Hinton: “We have no idea whether we can stay in control.”

The structure guarantees failure. The entities building superintelligence are corporations racing for dominance. Safety isn’t the priority. Shipping first is. Control gets solved later, if there’s time.

Hinton: “If they are created by companies motivated by short-term profits, our safety will not be the top priority.”

Weapons that select and eliminate targets autonomously. Pathogens engineered by systems operating beyond human oversight. Intelligence making decisions at speeds and scales we can’t audit.

We set out to build servants. We might be building gods.

Hinton’s message from Stockholm wasn’t academic. It was existential: solve control immediately, while the option still exists. We’re building minds we can’t turn off, and the window to install the off switch is collapsing.

The danger isn’t AI turning against us. It’s reaching a threshold where our existence becomes a variable it optimizes away.

שלשום שמעתי שמחבלים רצחו 6 חטופים. אני לא יכול להפסיק לחשוב על זה. אני לא רוצה שאבא שלי יהיה הבא בתור. עוד חודשיים יש לי בר מצווה, והחלום שלי הוא שאבא יעמוד לידי ויחבק אותי.

Ben was murdered while trying to save people from the Nova music festival. He was at the party when the massacre began and was able to escape, taking four strangers in his car to safety. After he dropped them off, Ben turned the car around to go save others. He rescued five people and turned back to go save more.

On the third trip, his car came under heavy gunfire from terrorists who set up a checkpoint on the road. The moment was captured on the car’s dashcam. It shows terrorists open fire at the vehicle, spraying the windshield with bullets.

Ben saved nine lives on Oct 7 and died trying to save three more. An Israeli band released a song in Ben’s memory that says, “Who is the person who goes back into hell, a moment after he escaped.”

Every nation has a precise breaking point - where they declare surrender. We know Japan's point was somewhere between two atomic bombs on their cities and a third one on Tokyo.

Where is Gaza's breaking point?

Well, Hamas ministry of propaganda is making sure it's never met. They claim they managed to kill more than 5000 IDF troops and destroy more than 800 Israeli vehicles and tanks. Imaginary & exaggerated numbers by all means.

So, when the people in Gaza feel like they are doing well, and soon they'll emerge victorious, their breaking point extends far away. It's like Plato's allegory of the cave. We don't live in the same universe, don't share the same facts, thus, reaching any form of shared conclusions is almost impossible.

But I really hope this breaking point is met soon - so the war can be concluded and further steps of rebuilding can start. Even for me, an enthusiastic pro-Israel, images of death in Gaza are breaking me. When will their hunger for revenge succumb to their love for life?
