As we celebrate our 250 anniversary as a country, I don’t think the Founding Fathers envisioned that not only would @cvspharmacy keep the deodorant in a locked cabinet, but now the person that unlocks the cabinet doesn’t let you take the deodorant, but instead carries it themselves directly to the cashier to ensure you pay for it. Has deodorant gotten too expensive or are there really that many deodorant thieves?
Last thought on today’s Rays vote from the city council chambers.
We witnessed:
- one council member, who refuses to use a computer, read bullet points from Chat GPT
- one council member, who said he is 99% voting No in the future, vote Yes
- Meanwhile, one council member who wanted to negotiate the deal in public with Babby, vote No on furthering the conversation
- The President of Baseball Ops for the best team in Major League Baseball listen to Tampa map amendments
Quite the day.

@anthonyraia_ If they really want a crazy scenario to complain about, imagine going 13-0 and winning your P4 conference title only to be left out of the playoff.
Texas has front license plates. When I lived there, it wasn’t even a second thought to have a front plate. Law enforcement in those states want front plates. I’ve never understood the anti-front plate obsession that some folks seem to have.
But this is inherently the problem. The program can’t be fixed until he’s gone. The program is broken. Mike is broken.
It seems like the administration thinks they’re going to save money by doing this. They won’t. They’re going to keep shedding donors and ticket holders who were asked to give up a lot and pay more with the stadium remodel and are getting unacceptable results.
The last time FSU lost to a UF team this bad was October 16, 1971, when the Noles lost to a UF team that finished 4-7. @PresMcCullough and @SeminoleAlford haven’t been around FSU that long. But one thing they should appreciate is that few things enrage FSU alumni and fans more than losing to UF. And getting blown out by a 4-8 UF team combined with the results on the field these last two years are the worst results for FSU since the early 70s, when the football program almost got shutdown.
By keeping Mike Norvell, FSU has announced to the country that it’s not a serious football school anymore. As someone who has loved FSU since I was a child before I could ever attend and graduate, this makes me incredibly sad.
Most of the people I talk to aren’t posting on Warchant. It’s a diverse set of people, male and female, across different age groups. They’re making up their minds based on the product on the field, not what some website tells them.
I’ve been a fan my entire life before I was an alum. My “love” for FSU will never change; my financial commitments may. We forced our legendary coach to retire even when he was still making bowl games every year because the product on the field wasn’t good enough. We’re now keeping a coach who has four 4-game losing streaks during his tenure, has had a 3-game losing streak every year but one, who has a losing record in the ACC, who lost at home to Jacksonville State, and has a losing record in the ACC. Might as well just come out and say we aren’t serious about football anymore.
If money is the issue, just say so. People won’t like it, but they’ll respect it. The lawyerly statement that was put out is completely disconnected from reality of what should be acceptable for this football program.
Put it this way. Every single FSU fan I have talked to or texted with, with the exception of 1, is against this move. So I’m using 98% as a ballpark figure to say essentially universally against. I realize there are others who support this move. But if you look online and at plays like Warchant and 247, it seems overwhelmingly against this move. That’s why I don’t know how someone could characterize these folks as just a vocal minority. And it certainly ridiculous for the athletic director to be liking such comments on Twitter as that is just going to further antagonize people who are already angry. I found your post because it was posted on Warchant.
Great article @AndyStaples. I can say for me, who has had season tickets consecutively since 2008 that I took over from my Dad, who had them since 1983, this may be the final straw after 42 years in the family.
For me, I don’t condition donations on whether the team is winning every game. But for the money they’re asking for, I do expect them to try and be competitive. At the very least in a league as bad as the ACC, we should be making a bowl every year and probably winning at least 8 games. They completed a stadium remodel where most people are now in worse seats at much higher prices, myself included. I supported that move even though it cost me personally. But when you’re asking people to now pay for three-year capital contributions along with significantly higher ticket prices, you need to be working to put a good product on the field.
Bringing this coach back after these results is the ultimate slap in the face to people you’ve asked to make a lot of sacrifices to continue to support the university. And like you, I suspect it’ll cost them more than firing today would have.
Florida State didn't save $58.5 million by keeping Mike Norvell. Barring a miracle turnaround, the Seminoles might not wind up saving a penny.

Retaining a coach who was 2-10 last year and at 5-6 this year is an underdog to a 3-8 team with a fired coach. Really screams “achieving championship-level success.” 🙄
