JUST NOW: President Trump just endorsed Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for the June 7, 2026 Armenian elections.
This marks the first time a U.S. president has directly backed a candidate in a South Caucasus election.
Why it's crucial ?
Revenue and Routing Deals: The endorsement follows a high-stakes, one-hour flash visit to Yerevan by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Secretary Rubio finalized three major bilateral agreements. The centerpiece is the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP), a 43-kilometer infrastructure corridor traversing southern Armenia.
Bypassing Russia and Iran: This mega-project serves as a massive geopolitical pivot.
Deliberately routing global trade from Central Asia to Europe while completely bypassing traditional regional hegemonies Russia and Iran.
Rare-earth minerals cooperation:
Rubio secured a Strategic Partnership Charter and a rare-earth minerals deal that boosts U.S. tech supply chains and counters China’s dominance.
The infrastructure corridor, expanded trade routing, and critical minerals agreements form an interconnected framework of economic and geopolitical interests.

Today in Yerevan, Armenian Foreign Minister @AraratMirzoyan and I announced a bilateral framework agreement on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) and signed a Strategic Partnership Charter and MOU on Critical Minerals, furthering the goals established during @POTUS’s historic peace summit between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We also discussed the peace process and Armenia’s upcoming elections.
As we conclude our #EUArmenia summit, let me underline the progress we have achieved together.
Our shared goals of stability, democracy, peace and prosperity for Armenia will continue to guide our efforts in the future.
✍️Signed!
The 🇪🇺🇦🇲 Connectivity Partnership.
From transport to energy and digital networks, it can turn Armenia into a strategic hub at the crossroads of continents.
Linking the EU, the South Caucasus & Central Asia.

Europe is not just about geography, it's also about the values and principles we share.
That’s why we are glad to welcome Canada at the European Political Community meeting today to discuss common issues.
We will be talking about connectivity, but also resilience to the threats we are all facing.
My doorstep ↓
The first day of meetings and negotiations in Armenia ahead of the European Political Community Summit was dedicated to our coordination with European partners. There are three key objectives.
First: we are doing everything possible to bring a dignified end to the war closer. I briefed our partners on the state of diplomacy, potential prospects, and planned contacts. Joint efforts are needed to intensify diplomacy and prevent any reduction in pressure on the aggressor. Russia must end this war. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine!
Second: implementation of the European support package for Ukraine totaling €90 billion – we are accelerating this funding.
Third: strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, energy support for Ukraine, and cooperation with partners in the energy sector. We are already actively preparing for the next heating season and diversifying the relevant support. I outlined all the needs for protection and recovery. Thank you to every partner who is ready to help!
Ce matin, aux côtés du sous-ministre des Affaires étrangères de l’Arménie, @VahanKostanyan, j’ai visité le Mémorial du génocide arménien à Erevan, en Arménie. Un moment pour rendre hommage, honorer et se souvenir.

Landed in Yerevan, Armenia, for the 8th European Political Community Summit. This is the first time a non-European nation has taken part.
Bound by shared values, Canada is working with our European partners to create more certainty, security, and prosperity for all our peoples.
Touchdown in Yerevan 🇦🇲 where the European Political Community will gather tomorrow to address challenges of continental scale.
From security to energy and connectivity.
We will also mark a major milestone with the first ever EU-Armenia Summit.
Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As we honor the 1.5 million Armenians murdered by the Ottoman Empire across modern-day Turkey, Syria, and Armenia, we must refuse to let history repeat itself.
In 2020, the military forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey attacked the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh. In 2023, Azerbaijan expelled over 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, continuing the genocidal campaign that had begun over 100 years prior.
On this day of remembrance, we reaffirm the right of the Armenian people — and all people — to freedom, safety, and self-determination.
