Listening to Ryle’s classic book ‘Holiness’. It is masterful and I would strongly encourage all pastors to read it (all Christians too, for that matter).
However, I have just come to his chapter on assurance which I think is by far the weakest chapter.
Teddy prayed his first prayer a few days ago: “Lord, thank you, amen”. 😀
Please join me in praying that this would be the first in a long line of prayers!

“ If you need to give an answer to someone who has spoken amiss to you, you can convince them better if you can overcome your passion. You can reason with your brother much more effectively without your passion than with it. ”

I live with an @LFC fan & she is delighted that they’ve won the League. I am overjoyed that Cody Gakpo used his platform to point the glory to Jesus after scoring a goal. Well worth getting a yellow card for! #YNWA
I love sparrows! I cannot see one without thinking of Jesus.
Luke 12:6-7
[6] Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. [7] Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.
Who could once have imagined that the Lord Jesus would have made himself so poor as to stand before God in the nauseous rags of our sins, and subject himself to the curse and death that were due to our sin? but thus he did to save us by grace.
Happy Easter!
And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 1 John 4: 14-15
Finally getting round to reading this classic that I have had on my shelf for years, due to the fact I have begun preaching through the Sermon on the Mount.
Though, as you would expect from MLJ, it contains some great insights and is very helpful in places…
One more comment: MLJ maintains that there is a definite sequence of thought and logical progression through the Beatitudes, but I’m not convinced there is.
@ssimonnin I see your point. I didn’t take enough notice of the ‘always’ in his comment. I presumed he was criticising ministers who do it at all (which he might be implying, but is not stating).
