Police and soldiers use rubber bullets and slingshots against #anti_coup protesters in #Mandalay on Monday afternoon. The security forces violently made arrests and some civilians were shot and injured. Journalists reporting on the event were also beaten by the security forces.

China and Russia support #Myanmar coup d'etat.

China is providing backchannel assistance while Russia provided armaments on the eve of the coup. Both blocked UN condemnation of coup & Rohingya genocide. Reminiscent of their support for Assad in Syria. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar
