Congress can change the number of justices on the Supreme Court at any time, and has done so 7 times throughout history.
Since 1869, the last time the court was expanded, the U.S. population has grown by over 800%, yet the court has stayed stagnant at 9 justices.
In just a matter of days, this Supreme Court has dealt serious blows to:
Reproductive rights.
Gun safety.
Privacy.
And now to the planet.
All because Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump stacked the Court.
Time to unstack it — expand the Court.

Education focused on the future has to be co-designed with those who are the future. We need to get off our high horses and take seriously that students want the same thing that we wanted as students…to be truly listened to because they have ideas about their future.
“The only way we can unify our country is to hold all those accountable… including the man who incited it, Donald Trump,” Dem. Rep. Ted Lieu says. He also supports efforts to hold Congress members, who are suspected of being involved in the Capitol riot in any way, accountable.
This is the most important moment in the history of social media.
The world’s largest platforms have banned the world's biggest purveyor of lies, conspiracies and hate.
To every Facebook and Twitter employee, user and advocate who fought for this--the entire world thanks you!
There must be consequences. A domestic terror attack on the US Congress by Trump and his enablers demands an immediate response, both congressional and at the highest levels of law enforcement. You do not pacify or reduce terrorism by inaction.
I am calling on Congress and currently working on measures to extend resources, healthcare, counseling, and hazard pay to all Capitol custodial, food service, and support staff after Wednesday’s attack.
Everyone who was there needs support.
I’ve been thinking so much of @IlhanMN.
Trump made Minnesota explicitly about HER. Said he’d win because of her. Many Dems in DC believed him, & marginalized her.
That burden wasn’t fair, but she took on the challenge anyway. She won.
Credit and respect her. @RashidaTlaib too.
One thing I’ll say: for the last two years, I and progressive candidates have been unseating powerful Dem incumbents supported by DCCC.
Not *once* has anyone in the party asked me what weaknesses I’ve found in their operation.
If they stop blaming progressives, we can help.
You voted for change. You voted for your future. You voted for Joe Biden.
The work is just getting started. Today, we celebrate; tomorrow, we get to work.

Love, kindness, compassion and tolerance are qualities common to all the great religions, and whether or not we follow any particular religious tradition, the benefits of love and kindness are obvious to anyone.
We cannot let survivors suffer in silence any longer. This conversation must continue out in the open, in a way that gives dignity and safety to survivors.
