@andrewjbland @theiaincameron Self determination is in article 1 of the UN charter . It doesn’t require people to be indigenous- otherwise the USA would likely have issues! Alaska is far closer to Canada and Russia than it is to the US. Would a referendum be invalid because the residents are American?

Ever since Suez the US has wanted Europe to be a market for American goods but without the wherewithal to threaten US global hegemony. The European nations to their shame went along with it.

@RealCounties I’m in Cambridgeshire. Bit disappointed you do not include the Isle of Ely and Soke of Peterborough as historic administrative divisions (independent of the county) from the Anglo Saxon period up until arguably 1965
