Today is the pillar of avoiding risky substances. While we traditionally discuss drugs, smoking, and alcohol. I would like to note that addiction to many things exist (social media, gambling, sugar, etc). The Craving Mind by Judson Brewer is a great book discussing addiction!
It is lifestyle medicine week! Todays pillar of a healthy lifestyle is nutrition. I do not tell my patients what not to eat, rather I keep my message simple. Add this to your diet and improve your health #lifestylemedicine#lifestyleismedicine@ACLifeMed@BethFratesMD
@rabihmgeha This was such an amazing plenary talk. I love bringing attention to the journey of how you grew @CPSolvers but more importantly thanking and showing gratitude for those who helped along the way. Maintaining that mindset and gratitude makes life worth living!
Before I was an MD, I was a TV producer/editor. 📺➡️🩺
Creating effective and interesting TV segments provided me with a skill set that I use when preparing educational talks in medicine.
Here’s some things I learned - a🧵: #MedEd#MedTwitter#orthotwitter#Physiatry@MedTweetorials
@BethFratesMD I know most HCPs are sick of the word burnout and other resilience trainings forced on us. I think reframing it is important. Continue to fight for system level change while taking care of yourself through mindfulness. Don’t let these poor systems dictate your life in any way.
@GavinPrestonMD Definitely true, do not force yourself into something you may not enjoy just for social status, family expectations, or any other superficial reason. I have had so many friends who have found themselves miserable for tricking themselves into thinking this is what they wanted.
I wanted to share this wonderful piece on reducing diabetes disparities. Thank you so much to @RossWollen for making me sound more eloquent than I likely was during the interview 😁. https://t.co/NUiom9vWSF #lifestylemedicine#ACLM#foodismedicine@ACLifeMed@NorthwellHealth
@JBTips@ACLifeMed@BethFratesMD Thank you so much for sharing! The more power we give back to our patients the better we can mitigate the disastrous effects of institutional/structural racism and inequity of access to care. #yourhealthisyours
Arrived @SocietyGIM 2023 last night. Looking forward to learning and meeting up with all my colleagues. See if I can find this little dude each day. #SGIMspottheyeti
Efforts like these are super important. I wouldn’t have gotten to where I was without programs like Mentoring in Medicine or the MonteHOP/SUMP programs I did during college. I owe a lot to Dr. Holden and many others. Pass it forward and make sure to bring others up with you.
Lynne Holden, M.D., @ Einstein’s senior associate dean for diversity and inclusion, provides an overview of the robust ways in which Einstein supports diverse students throughout their medical school journey. #diversity#mentoring
An amazing article by @UrviShahMD@DrGiaMerlo that discusses an often under promoted reason for whole food plant based diet, Planetary Health! One of the most impactful ways to mitigate climate change. In addition to personal health. Take a look https://t.co/P8bjKt3Li6
This is a fun thread to read. It is so easy to switch favorites. Right now I lean towards regular physical activity since I love hearing how it makes everyone feel better and have more energy.

It’s nice to see such a simple shared message that can be safely stated without controversy. Obviously we have media influence and years of tradition to work against but it doesn’t need to be adversarial if we just promote addition of foods rather than subtraction.
