📍Every major conflict that has defined Anatolia and the eastern Mediterranean since 1920 flows directly from the decision to abandon the treaty of Sevres. One of the greatest strategic failures of the twentieth century.
The Treaty of Sevres (1920), if implemented, would have decisively resolved Anatolia’s root tensions and delivered provided long-term regional clarity, minority security and lasting stability, ending years of forced coexistence and violence.
The abandonment of Sevres was not a diplomatic setback - It was a century of bloodshed authorised in advance.
The destruction of Smyrna.
The Cyprus occupation.
The Kurdish wars.
The endless Aegean disputes.
Each one a direct invoice for abandoning Sevres.
‼️ Instead of a multi-ethnic empire held together by force, Sevres offered stable nation-states built on demographic reality-confronting the issues that would define the next hundred years: unresolved nationalisms, contested frontiers, and unpunished atrocities.
‼️The alternative-the unitary Turkish Republic -delivered a century of forced assimilation, repeated Kurdish uprisings, the denial of the Armenian Genocide, the eradication of Anatolia’s remaining Christian communities, and enduring territorial disputes with every neighbour.
❌The Sevres treaty would have formalized Greek-Turkish boundaries in Thrace and Western Anatolia, removing the tensions that still poison the Aegean today.
❌Sevres would have granted Kurdish autonomy, averting the decades-long Kurdish conflict that has claimed tens of thousands of lives and destabilised the region.
❌It would have secured an Armenian state, closing the genocide’s open wound before denial became state policy.
❌It would have internationalized the Bosporus Straits, eliminating a perennial flashpoint for unilateral control, promoting secure maritime commerce for decades.
🔺Sevres was the only framework that could have worked. The region has been paying the price for its abandonment ever since.
🇪🇺 Turkey’s illegal maritime claims are not merely a dispute over boundaries. They represent a broader challenge to EU sovereignty, international law, regional stability, and the credibility of Europe’s collective security framework.
The Eastern Mediterranean may ultimately test the credibility of the European Union itself.
🧵
❌⚓️While Turkey lectures others about freedom of the seas and complains about restricted access, it maintains absolute control over the Bosporus and Sea of Marmara, enforcing a de facto blockade of the entire Black Sea.
This single chokepoint is the only maritime route to the high seas for five countries (Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, and Georgia. The 1936 Montreux Convention offers only limited mitigation, and Turkey controls its application.
❌🏛️Turkey proudly proclaims it does not recognize the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Yet it selectively weaponizes UNCLOS provisions to claim a massive Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) covering roughly half the Black Sea while enforcing 12 nautical mile (nm) territorial waters in both the Black Sea and the eastern Mediterranean, where it suits its interests.
@EUCouncil@EUCouncil How about the illegal Turkish settlers on European territory in Cyprus and the ongoing occupation of an EU member state? You are busy policing the rest of the world while ignoring your own member states.
> Christopher Nolan chose a Mexican who said "only latinos should be playing latino", to play the role of the old man Greek islander Eumaeus.
> On the right: a random Greek islander.
Zero Greeks playing in "The Odyssey".
Nolan is an anti-Greek racist.
Greek City Times published an open letter to Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey this week. It reads in part:
"We did not vanish. Greek people did not disappear after the age of myth. Greek culture was not frozen in classical marble. We are still here. For more than 3,000 continuous years, Greek identity has persisted."
The addendum: "Given Hollywood's insistence for minority representation, authenticity and diversity — where are the Greeks, or the Greek Americans in this Greek story?"
The film shot in Greece, with Greek funding, across Greek locations. Not one cast member is Greek.
Hollywood required diversity for every production except this one.
In 43 days every major European leader flies to Ankara for the NATO summit. They will shake hands with the man who just hosted a secret Muslim Brotherhood summit, runs their European mosque network, and shelters Brotherhood figures expelled from Sudan, Egypt and Jordan. Nobody has briefed them.
I've done it for them. 🧵
🚨 BREAKING: A group of armed Turkish warplanes violated Greek airspace ten times on Monday, triggering a simulated dogfight after Greek fighter jets were scrambled to intercept them.
Once again, the EU has offered no response to Turkey’s repeated violations of European airspace- a stark double standard when compared to Brussels’ swift and unambiguous condemnations whenever Russian aircraft or drones breach the airspace of Baltic member states.

Of course Türkiye has rights to claim maritime areas in the Aegean.
But the real question is: which areas exactly can Türkiye legally claim?
The answer is simple: only areas outside Greek territorial waters and only where there is an overlapping claim to continental shelf or EEZ.
Even under the most extreme hypothetical scenario, where a court gave the Greek islands no continental shelf or EEZ effect beyond their territorial sea, the area to be divided between the Greek and Turkish mainland coasts would still be limited to the three blue areas east of the yellow mainland-to-mainland median line.
That is the maximum theoretical claim, not the likely judicial result.

Turkey is preparing a new "Maritime Zones Law" to codify its "Blue Homeland" that will grant the Turkish President broad powers to unilaterally declare an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) extending up to 200 nautical miles and regulate all offshore economic activities.
This, in combination with the Casus Belli that Turkey has on Greece in case it wants to expand its territorial waters from 6 to 12 nautical miles, is an unacceptable breach and violation of Greek and European territory and should be decisively rejected.
Turkey’s expansionism and constant threats towards Greece are a menace towards all of our safety and must be tackled head on.
The peculiar immunity that Turkey faces from the EU establishment must end and be replaced by a staunch opposition to their aggression and a powerful and uncompromising defense of Greece’s rights and safety
The extension to 12 nautical miles is both a Greek and a European issue and it’s Ave Europa’s core policy that the extension will happen convincingly.
Turkey is not a European country and must never be allowed in the EU under any circumstances.

@mustafa14079726@ictinus_x The Aegean is a "Greek lake", except for the waters between Greece’s easternmost islands — such as Lesvos, Chios, and Samos — and the Turkish coast, where maritime space is naturally shared.
The world knows this, Turkey knows it, yet Ankara keeps trying to revise the status quo!
@akamurat67@ictinus_x Under Article 51 of the UN Charter, every state has the right to defend itself against threats to its security and territorial integrity.
After Turkey’s Casus Belli against Greece, Greece gained the legitimate right to militarize and defend every inch of its sovereign territory.
