We talk to a lot of coaches who run into the same issue:
Athletes get antsy between reps. They do not want to rest. Or they feel like rest means the session is too easy.
Speed/acceleration is of course important…but don’t overlook the importance of your braking capacity technique and changing direction more efficiently! Game changer.
Dear female athletes:
Your hamstrings are not tight.
They are WEAK.
When sport load is higher than tissue tolerance that equals injury or chronic soreness/tightness feeling.
Build your hamstring STRENGTH to handle the demands of your sport so you are more resilient to high loads from sprinting, cutting, and jumping.
You'd be shocked how many girls have come to me on day one who COULD NOT TOUCH THEIR TOES.
What did we do to solve this? NOT STRETCHING!!!🤣🤣🤣
We DEAD LIFTED. 🏋️♀️
We built the hamstrings to become bulletproof.
A few months later?
They all touched their toes with ease.
YOUR HAMSTRINGS ARE WEAK. Not tight.
BUILD STRENGTH.
Quality warmups are a cheat code. From a review of 11 studies on 6,344 soccer players: a basic 20-minute warm-up (FIFA 11) reduced injuries by 30%. The results can be even more pronounced with an individualized approach. This isn't complex - but it does need to be consistent.

A great mid-week CPD event at Isokinetic in London talking all things ACL causes & ‘prevention’ in English football.
Did you know men’s ACL can tolerate loads of up to 2000N but only 1200N in women? Significant. 🧐
