New in JUST. Wade Poziomka has become a giant in the field of human rights law by doing exactly what he always imagined a lawyer was meant to do: fight for the underdog. https://t.co/Qp6sESBbfn
Thank you to all of our Unions across the province for advancing workers’ rights and serving as the backbone of the social justice movement. There is important work ahead. Thank you for continuing the fight to level the playing field! Happy Labour Day 2024. #HamOnt

JUST. Magazine, published by the @OBAlawyers, ran a feature article about my work in human rights. I enjoyed speaking with Michael Speers about my work, but was not expecting such a complimentary article and am truly humbled. Full article here:

Congratulations to my friends and colleagues who have also been listed.

I sat as judge at the Wilson Moot in Toronto along with Spencer Livingstone from @BlakesLaw and Justice Conlan from the Superior Court. Fascinating fact pattern on gender identity and imprisonment. It’s always great to see the exceptional talent soon to join the legal profession.
I represented MPP @SarahJama_ today at the Divisional Court with respect to the @OntarioPCParty’s decision to censure her in the Ontario Legislature. Couldn’t have asked for better co-counsel than David Baker and Daniel Mulroy.

In recent years lawyers have experienced increasing criticism (letters, emails, social media posts, etc.) for representing clients in disfavour with some groups in our community. I’ve experienced this criticism recently in some higher profile cases I’m working on, including my representation of @HamiltonPride, former Hamilton City Councillor @MatthewGreenNDP (now MP), and most recently of MPP @SarahJama_ in the Ford Government’s decision to censure her in the Ontario Legislature. Here is an article I wrote in @TheSpec yesterday.
I respect the right of anyone to be critical, and as a human rights lawyer I do and will continue to fight for freedom of speech and the right to criticize (even if I’m the target of that criticism because one doesn’t like who I represent as a lawyer). With respect to that particular criticism however, I think it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how our legal system works. And it doesn’t deter me in representing my clients. #onpoli
