We are proud to announce the issuance of a new @USGAO report on Caribbean #firearms #antitrafficking efforts. To combat firearms trafficking, @StateDept, @TheJusticeDept, @DHSgov, and @CommerceGov engage in capacity-building, investigative, and border security efforts.

Agencies track results of their efforts to combat firearms trafficking to the Caribbean through various means. However, State does not track results for combatting firearms for the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative—a U.S. security partnership with 13 Caribbean countries.

What foreign governments are behind the spread of disinformation used to harm the U.S. & other democracies? How are U.S. agencies detecting foreign disinformation? GAO’s recently issued report provides answers to these questions.

GAO found that @StateDept, @DeptofDefense, and @DHSgov counter foreign disinformation through activities such as educating U.S and foreign partners and the public on how to recognize and build resilience against disinformation threats.

GAO issued the first in a series of reports requested by Congress about the use and oversight of assistance to #Ukraine. Our new report looks at DOD’s processes to provide defense articles to Ukraine and whether @DeptofDefense is ensuring those articles arrive.

Finally, it is unclear whether DOD has tracked all allegations of end-use violations involving equipment provided to Ukraine, creating challenges as DOD tries to ensure that equipment is used for the purposes for which it was provided.
