@jonbuttolph @OSH_EHP_Louise @The_CIEH@SWalesSafety South Wales Safety Groups Alliance? This is supposed to be a role filled by an EHO, not a H&S consultant.
Don’t forget to vote in @The_CIEH board elections. Only 8 candidates for 6 seats. Not a very diverse group to choose from, but grateful they all appear to live in the UK, be UK citizens, and work in environmental health.
Our chair @CllrShaunDavies said: “While the past 50 years has seen many changes, local councils remain at the heart of their communities.
“From looking after our most vulnerable in society, to emptying bins & keeping streets clean, councils touch the lives of everyone everyday.
There is one week left to stand in the CIEH Trustee election. Our Trustees work collaboratively to ensure we meet our charter, charitable and legal obligations, and remain solvent and sustainable. Nominations close 17:00 on 22 March. 1/2
For example, if I was a big food business I’d throw money at the guy who can shape national food safety policy via the regulators professional body. If I was a small food business I’d throw money at the guy who can keep the LA EHO away.
Isn’t this part of the problem for the @The_CIEH? Decades of cuts have left LA EHO’s without time to contribute to the profession. Meanwhile the private sector volunteer to influence CIEH policy responses, while embellishing their CV or business profile to gain work. Discuss.
@The_CIEH Supportive of any mention of EH in the media, but this interview should have been done by an EHO to avoid the inaccuracies and to actually answer the question being asked.
We’ve had a couple of messages from people who attended this: it was like buzzword bingo and questions were not answered directly, and the view that the CIEH tiktok is great, it has amassed 18 followers in almost 18 months. Did you attend? Thoughts? Message us if you prefer
Thank you to all who attended our meet the Leaders session today. Members raised many excellent questions for the leadership panel to answer prompting some interesting areas for further reflection. The recording is now available to members via MyCIEH.

‘Environmental Health Officer’ is a legally protected title in the UK. However, it is regulated by @REHISScotland not @The_CIEH. Guess what, the CIEH only protected ‘Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner’. When is this going to be corrected?
@DavidThrale@REHISScotland@The_CIEH Looks like it goes back to the CIEH charter and bylaws - only EHP is mentioned and not EHO. The opposite is true in Scotland. Yet I don’t know a single LA member who is titled EHP, and they remain the majority of CIEH members.
Oh thank y’all CIEH. The rendition of Bye Bye Mr American Pie was heartwarming. And I did have a fair slice of that pie, didn’t I. All my bags are packed I’m ready to go. Coz I’m leaving on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back again (to rapturous applause). Soz
Today @The_CIEH announced that @DanielOerther has ‘left the board’. Wonderful news for the profession and demonstrates that members will, eventually, be listened to. He should now be stripped of his FCIEH. Well done to the trustees for making this happen, it cannot have been easy
