Charities are wonderful but should be unnecessary in a society with a properly functioning government. Political parties do not lead to sound decision making.
@DavidPocock It should be compulsory for all politicians to wear a sandwich board displaying both their ‘sponsors’ and their voting history, allowing the public to match that to what comes out of their mouths. Let them carry the weight of their decisions both metaphorically and physically.
@Mon4Kooyong It should be compulsory for all politicians to wear, like a uniform every single day, a sandwich board displaying both their ‘sponsors’ and their voting history, allowing the public to match that to what comes out of their mouths…

Peter, I lost my second baby at 12 weeks. That grief was real. I know a woman whose baby was stillborn at full term. The devastation destroyed her marriage and changed her forever. So when Andrew Hastie, Barnaby Joyce, Henry Pike, and Tony Pasin hijacked Baby Priya's Bill to score political points about late-term abortion, I felt physically sick. These men exploited a debate about stillbirth - about parents like Priya's mother, denied parental leave after her daughter died - to insinuate that grieving women might "cheat the system." The depravity required to weaponise such profound loss is staggering. These MPs turned a moment of parliamentary compassion into a platform for their ideology, showing utter contempt for bereaved parents. No woman who has endured late-term termination for catastrophic medical reasons is trying to defraud anyone. She is surviving an unimaginable tragedy. These men are unfit to represent anyone who values basic human decency. They are nothing but monsters.
Hallelujah to that! The Triple Union Flag is a well considered option that represents ALL of us, with no element superior (unlike our current flag). https://t.co/Xk1ainhhGI
This is the most Australian flag & should be our national flag for two reasons:
1. It was created by a New Zealander whom we claim as our own.
2. Appropriating the Aboriginal flag lends us a sense of unique cultural identity without changing the fundamental underlying structures.
💯 @deniseshrivell Charities are wonderful but should be unnecessary tbh. It seems governments are quite comfortable outsourcing some of society’s most foundational services to volunteers. I don’t get it. #auspol
Anyone else feel uncomfortable that the mid winter ball raises money for charities - where the very people attending the mid winter ball and giving the money - can actually do many things to stop the need for charities? 🤔 #auspol
@EVERALDATLARGE This design represents all of us - First Nations, British settlers and everyone that’s come after - with no one subordinate or superior (unlike the current flag)… https://t.co/Rue1GhgaPl
@toiletpaperaus1 Sorry….? “Won’t benefit from the policy?” Just wait ‘til your hairdresser is taking your gall bladder out. We need all skills and specialties in a functioning society - saddling some with crippling debt is more than unfair #ShortSightedMuch
@parnellpalme I agree that childcare would not be the preferred option for most children, but in our society two wages are required by many to manage financially. Here’s an #UnpopularOpinion… pay a parent to stay home. Benefits > cost over the long term surely…
@Leo_Puglisi6 The Triple Union Flag is a very well considered design for an ANF replacement. No element is superior and everyone is represented. https://t.co/Xk1aingJRa
@DavidPocock Govt. should get on with a lot of things in education, like addressing the cost of degrees #FirstDegreeFree and completely overhauling initial teacher training so it is fit for purpose… instead we get tinkering around the edges. #DoBetter
Seems to me that helping communities and households to set up batteries might be a significantly cheaper way to turn daytime generation into nighttime power than building nuclear plants…
Paul Mullins, the former NSW Fire and Rescue Commissioner, says the California wildfires are ‘happening because of climate change.. and what we predicted.’
We can prevent more tragedies like this by acting more effectively to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels.
