After more waiting, this time on a crimping tool. I've got the motors wired up in the proper pairs with the right connectors. Back to the store to get some 14 gauge wire to power this beast. #ProjectOpal#CnC#DIY
Que the epic music! I am talking to my board. After a week of waiting on parts (Christmas shipping times) I have the Ethernet adapter to communicate with the circuit board. #ProjectOpal#CnC#Coding
Finished the lid to the main circuit board today. I asked #Grok for a picture of an opal. Got this Phoenix cut opal and ran with it. I'm really happy with my cable knockouts. If I had some black TPU that'd be even better. #ProjectOpal#CnC#3Dprinting#Progress
These three deer were about 150 yards away. I'm only good to 50 yards with my bow. So they were beautiful to watch from where I was posted up. @SCDNR#hunting
Did some more #prototype-ing. I think the green with black letters looks better. Another step closer. I'll get back to the programming side when that adapter comes in. #ProjectOpal#CnC
This iteration went well. After trying to clean out the sliding door tray for the lid. I decided to redesign it to just be a top cover. #ProjectOpal#3dprinted#Engineering#prototype
Failed to account for the soder pins on the bottom side of the board and learned that my mark-1 (1.1 with LASIK) eyeball thought this board was square. The cutouts matched up, a quick redesign and new prints coming. Off to bed for now and let the machines work while I sleep. #ProjectOpal #Engineering
After messing around with the controller I came to an impass without a Ethernet/USB adapter and can't get one until after Christmas. So working on the housings for the circuit board. #ProjectOpal#CnC
Little different today, worked on #ProjectOpal before work, work. And then climbed a tree for a little saddle #bowhunting this evening. One armadillo later no sightings, just tracks.
When I got back in my truck and was driving out I scared a family of wild hogs, each about 120-150#. I didn't have a hog licence because I've never seen them in the wild. #welcometothesouth
You know that psychological effect of success. How success appears instantaneous to people watching on the outside. I feel like that's what it is today. Boom: #ProjectOpal physically built. The hours sunk into research, planning, and prototyping not seen from the outside.
Now comes a lack of what looks like progress as I work on software and the controller side of things to control the motors.
#CnC in progress.
