As we continue commemorating #MenstrualHygieneDay, we're bringing attention to a conversation that is too often overlooked: Menstruation, Disability & the Right to Dignity.
Set reminder here: https://t.co/S0BxCCXgwv
Periods are already doing the most; The cramps, the fatigue, the planning, the discomfort.
The last thing anyone should have to navigate is stigma, period poverty, inaccessible spaces, misinformation, or systems that leave people behind.

We believe child health starts with informed communities, empowered caregivers, and access to the right knowledge during the earliest years of life.
Over the past weeks, we’ve partnered with @LcaUganda a to implement a NSP Program supporting children within urban refugee.

Our ED @DjembaMicheal commended the the launch of Uganda’s ECCE Policy (2025), describing it as an important step toward strengthening the country’s long-term human capital agenda.
The policy aligns with and reinforces our work within communities to advance stronger societies.
Last month together with partners we convened a Community Dialogue in Bugiri District bringing together PWDs, PWD leaders, CSOs and district leadership.
The dialogue created space for social accountability and co-creation of locally grounded solutions around disability inclusion
Celebrating Africa Day by honouring the power of communities, the resilience of our people, and the promise of a healthier, more equitable Africa for all.

Happening today in Kampala!
The Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development (MGLSD), in collaboration with LCA Uganda, is hosting a national-level capacity-building workshop to roll out the Self-Reliance Index (SRI) tool for refugees and host communities. This high-level engagement brings together key stakeholders, including member organizations of LCA Uganda, commissioners and senior officers from MGLSD, Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs), the National Planning Authority (NPA), UBOS, representatives from the Conrad Hilton Foundation, and leadership from KCCA Headquarters and its Divisions. The workshop focuses on leveraging the SRI tool to enhance the Jobs and Livelihoods Response Plan. By tracking these vital metrics, stakeholders will better guide strategic planning for sustainable livelihood interventions. Ultimately, this data-driven approach aims to improve Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) outcomes while seamlessly adopting proven Government of Uganda development models.#LCAUganda #SRITool #RefugeeResponse #SustainableLivelihoods
Excited to share highlights from our impactful workshop!
Aphia Migoye, Jobs & Livelihoods Secretariat and PROSPECT Project Coordinator at the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD), delivered a powerful preamble that set the tone for the day. She introduced the Self-Reliance Index (SRI). This practical tool measures refugee and host community self-reliance across seven key domains: Economic Capacity, Food Security & Nutrition, Shelter, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Health, Education, and Social Cohesion.
The workshop is designed to equip participants with the skills to use the SRI Tool confidently, assess its integration into existing programs, and develop clear, actionable plans for its sustained adoption. Together, we’re advancing more effective, data-driven approaches to sustainable livelihoods and refugee response in Uganda! #LCAUganda #SRITool #RefugeeResponse #SustainableLivelihoods
A Beacon of Hope:
How Amaryllis SHG is Transforming Refugee Lives in Kampala.
At a recent experience-sharing event we organized in Mengo, the Amaryllis Self-Help Group (SHG) emerged as a powerful example of resilience. Led by and for Burundian refugees and asylum-seekers, this Kampala-based group goes beyond microfinance by embedding regular group counseling and psychosocial support into its core mission.
"I cannot leave this meeting without saying anything! I am now a powerful woman", said Triphone Nsabimana.
Today, Amaryllis unites 26 active members, most of whom operate small businesses to sustain their families. To scale their impact of their Self Help Group, CAPAIDS Uganda recently delivered Year II revolving fund financing, ensuring members have continued access to affordable credit. This life-changing work is proudly supported by the Dioraphte Foundation, The Share Trust, and the Local Coalition Accelerator (LCA) Uganda.

Through community engagements, we shared practical knowledge on child nutrition, stimulation, growth & development, infant feeding, hygiene, and early health-seeking behaviours.
Because malnutrition is not only a food issue, it is also a knowledge and systems issue.
