@CptHastings1916 Privacy is epistemological. "The thoughts inside my head" are immediately present. Social media gives a simulacrum of this immediacy. But social media is public. So private thoughts become public utterances, perhaps even inadvertently.
@CptHastings1916 Isn't this a sure mark of "hyperreality"? Maybe hyperreality is equivalent to a collapse or merging of the public/private distinction.
@RollingHedge That is different, that is structural and openly declared. In the right wing case, it is covert and opportunistic. It usually involves ego elevation and personal/familial enrichment.
