If you’re seeing political TV ads during 🏈 for elections far away from where you live, that’s because at this stage in the cycle it is likely less expensive to buy a TV ad during a regional/national NFL game than to buy it locally. Or there’s more inventory nationally.
That’s right - more expensive to buy 30 seconds in the Des Moines or Dallas markets - if there’s no air time left there - than to buy it nationwide.
"The US has long provided Ecuador and other LatAm governments with intelligence, equipment and training… But until now, U.S. military personnel have mostly played a peripheral role in local operations, rather than participating directly in drug raids."

SCOOP: OpenAI, Anthropic and security researchers are investigating tens of thousands of incidents - not dozens - in which their frontier models took steps that outside evaluators would consider problematic, sources told Axios.
The sheer volume of incidents found in our reporting indicate that the problem is orders of magnitude more complex than what is currently publicly known and disclosed.
The findings also raise questions about what level of control anyone working on AI development can expect to have over their own technology, and whether these kinds of incidents are becoming synonymous with frontier deployment.

After Trump barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House last week, the Chinese embassy contacted several US television networks to discuss how the move would affect coverage of Xi’s visit, two sources familiar with the discussions told CNN
GARDNER: Do you only want outlets that support you to be a part of the press pool?
TRUMP: No, no, no. I want real news, not fake news — like you. I want-
CROSSTALK: Mr. President-
TRUMP: Listen. I want real news. I love an open, free press. What I don’t like is the fake press where a group like CNN, few people watch it, or MSDNC, which they changed I guess to NOW. But, you know why they changed it? Because their ratings are so bad. What I don’t like-
GARDNER: Do you not want tough questions, sir?
TRUMP: Wait, wait. Quiet. What I- what I don’t like is fake news. And they’re fake news. 100%. In two years, [GARDNER: Do you not want tough questions, sir?] In two years, I doubt they did one good story. And I won the election in a landslide. So what we don’t want is we don’t want fake news.
The 5 network WH TV pool provides raw materials of news coverage: video, audio, editorial information and logistical support to news outlets then seen across the world. That is separate from how individual outlets use the material to prepare their own stories and make their own editorial choices.
Chaos ahead of Xi Jinping’s arrival at the White House as the travelling Chinese press corps push and shove their way into position.
Lots of shouting and raised voices as they refuse to move for Secret Service.
A reminder that they trampled a White House staff member during Donald Trump’s state visit to Beijing.
While a federal judge has ordered the White House to immediately restore press credentials for CNN, MSNOW, and Politico, it’s unclear if TV networks will resume pool coverage of Trump.
The WH has not said whether CNN is back in the pool—a separate issue from the credentials.
Breaking overnight: A federal judge early Thursday morning temporarily blocked senior Trump administration officials from barring CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House and said their journalists' press credentials must be immediately restored. https://t.co/MPtLin35HF
RAV is getting *unilateral* TV coverage for itself, but it does not have the ability to POOL or share it with anyone. In spaces like the Oval there’s not enough room for every outlet, which is what makes the pool necessary to ensure everyone (including RAV) has the footage.

Trump made his first remarks without the TV pool and it is impossible to hear him through the White House feed. He is doing an unveiling of the new helipad just before Xi’s visit.
Nothing but static for 9 minutes and Trump is wheels up.
Actually, the networks literally built the infrastructure to transmit from the White House. They’re the ones with the resources to do it daily. That includes a considerable amount for staff, equipment, & travel costs. We then pool footage to other outlets. It is a public service.
The primary White House TV pool is made up of 5 networks: CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, and FOX. We take turns covering POTUS for pooled events and trips, and then share footage with the other 4 plus other outlets.
Today there is no tv pool, so Trump won’t have a crew with him at UNGA.

President Trump plans to sign the Russia sanctions bill today, a White House official tells me.
The late Sen. Graham led the push for this bill. It lets the president impose tariffs up to 100% on top purchasers of Russian oil/gas and includes sanctions on Putin. @CBSNews
