I compared 5 premium crypto cards on the exact same purchase. Test #7
Same store, same EUR 7.99 basket, same minute, five cards one after another. Cashback rates are too far apart to compare fairly, 3% against 8%, so this one is only about the rate.
What each card charged for EUR 7.99:
- @ether_fi : $9.13
- @wirexapp : $9.15
- @xplaceapp : $9.24
- @coca_card : $9.26
- @useTria : $9.29
The mid market rate that minute made it $9.14. Everything above that is what the card takes for the conversion
The two on-chain cards took nothing. Etherfi settled a cent under mid, Wirex a cent over, and neither pays the 1% Visa foreign fee
The three Visa cards did take it. XPlace 1.10% over mid, COCA 1.27%, Tria 1.65%, which is the 1% Visa fee plus 0.50% of its own on top
1.7% between the cleanest rate and the priciest one. On EUR 2,000 of spend abroad that is about EUR 34 a month, before anyone even mentions cashback
Cashback is the next post. The rate comes first, because that one you cannot opt out of
Which of these five is in your pocket?
April was brutal for DeFi. 28 exploits. Over $600M drained. The biggest one the KelpDAO hack on April 18 minted ~$292M of unbacked rsETH and hit @aave markets hard.
The aftermath: massive liquidity outflows across the sector.
Aave service providers launched DeFi United a relief fund to restore rsETH backing.
Anyone can chip in. And this reminds me of early @gitcoin .
Back then we donated to projects we believed in. Later many of us got airdrops not from those projects, but from bigger ones. @Optimism gave up to 500 OP to active donors. I caught several 5-figure drops just from that.
To be clear: I don't expect anything from Aave. Donations are non-refundable. Don't send what you can't lose.
Right now:
Top-3% > 0.01 ETH
Top-15% > 0.001 ETH
It's possible that in the future some projects will use this as one of the criteria for token distribution.
I sent mine. Easy call.
