@PeterTFortune Housing can be done well, drove past these today in the ward and had to stop to marvel at the outcome. Not everyone might agree, but done right housing can have many positives.
Out in Bromley Town before heading to #Keston. Lots of conversations about housing and how we need to focus on building appropriate family homes - there is lots to do! Thanks to all who spoke with us. We’ll be out campaigning in #Bromley & #BigginHill again tomorrow.
Great to be out at Bromley North supporting my good friend @PeterTFortune - Peter has already shown his commitment to Bromley as councillor and London Assemblies Member. He will be a powerful local champion for #Bromley&BigginHill
I met with @neill_bob yesterday to talk about the work he has done regarding the cladding crisis. This needs to be resolved - those suffering are not at fault. I commit to continuing the work Sir Bob started.
The heat is still rising today so crews from #Bromley have been up
In #Chislehurst to talk about fires in the open & the need to cut vegetation around built up areas. If you’re a land owner start thinking about your fire plan for the summer. https://t.co/8wXaajoe2x @LondonFire
Alongside colleagues we have signed @CIHhousing letter to @RishiSunak and @michaelgove expressing concern about British homes for British workers.
The #HousingCrisis is the result of successive govs failing to #PlanForHousing, not immigration. We all deserve a safe, secure home
Planning reform is vital for economic growth. It will fund the quality of public services voters expect.
It’s possible to build homes and critical infrastructure without damaging communities.
It requires a sensible and committed approach to reform.

Popped along to the Chislehurst police meeting organised by @ChisMatters this evening. Interesting to hear from Superintendent Baldock about his plan for policing across Bromley. Very welcome news that the police are exploring having a base in Chislehurst / Mottingham.
"The Green Belt has made it very difficult to deliver homes in London, forcing those who work there to look further afield or bid further up the prices."
Well said @freddie_poser - our planning system needs a huge overhaul, starting with the Green Belt...

NatWest Group Chairman Sir Howard Davies tells the Today Programme:
“I don’t think it’s that difficult to buy a house.”
Laughable really. Living on another planet. Utterly blind to this country’s severe housing shortage.
Spot on @freddie_poser 👏
The average house price in the 1980s was 3 times the average salary - it's now 9 times.
As a result, the average time required to save for your first home was 3 years in the 1980s - it's now 19 years.
