I’m running for Lt. Governor because the Republican plan isn’t this year’s 12 week abortion ban; it’s next year’s total abortion ban. I'm North Carolina Senator Rachel Hunt. Let me explain... #ncpol
Our family would like to share that the funeral service for my dad, former Governor Jim Hunt, will be held on Friday, December 26, at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Wilson, NC with a reception to follow at the church. All are welcome to attend.
Roy Cooper has been a champion for North Carolina throughout his career. He has my full support — let’s send him to DC so he can continue to fight for us in the Senate!
There are a lot of challenges ahead but now is the time to get involved and fight for what we believe in. It was great to join @CravenDemocrats at the Wainwright Dinner last weekend to speak about the importance of showing up and finding real solutions for real problems.
As Lieutenant Governor, I will always stand to defend women’s healthcare rights. Today, I spoke to Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic and thanked them for their tireless work defending reproductive care in our state.
My dad taught me about the importance of public service as he tirelessly led our state to set us up for success. It is an honor to serve in the role he once held and continue fighting for North Carolina as Lieutenant Governor.
As Lieutenant Governor, I will continue working to build a stronger state where every voice is heard, every family is supported, and every community thrives.

Black History Month is an opportunity for us to honor the rich legacy of Black North Carolinians, whose contributions have shaped our state and nation. Happy Black History Month!
The tragic plane crash in Washington is heartbreaking. My deepest sympathies are with all those who lost loved ones, including the families and friends of the Charlotte-based crew.
Secretary of State Elaine Marshall’s dedication to North Carolina and her commitment to public service are inspiring. She has been a strong leader in our state and I was honored to preside over her swearing-in ceremony for a historic eighth term today at the State Capitol.
Deeply saddened by the loss of Rep. Joe John. He was a steady hand and the voice of reason in the legislature, always leading with wisdom and integrity. He will be deeply missed. My prayers are with his family and all who were blessed to know him.
Whether it was at the legislature, in the courtroom or at the State Crime Lab, Rep. Joe John has always served the people of North Carolina with dedication and a deep commitment to our higher ideals. Our state is a better place because of his work and I’m praying for him and his family.
Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and recommit ourselves to the fight for justice and equality. We must and will continue to work toward a more perfect union for everyone.

It was my honor to attend funeral services today for GPD Officer Michael Horan, a hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice while protecting his neighbors. We are grateful for his service and my thoughts and deep condolences are with his family, friends and the entire Greensboro community during this difficult time.
It was great to see Watauga High School theatre students perform their show, SURGE, last night honoring the strength and unity showed by their community during Hurricane Helene. Our state has been deeply impacted by this devastating tragedy and we will continue to remain focused on making sure our Western North Carolina neighbors can recover and rebuild safely after this storm.
Today, I was honored to preside over the opening session of the State Senate as President of the Senate. It was even more special to have my parents, former four-term Gov. Jim Hunt and First Lady Carolyn Hunt, there with me to celebrate this moment. I look forward to working with everyone in the chamber to make North Carolina a better place to live, work and raise a family.
