@Chainsword40k Correct, most world's in the impirium are just y-class civilian worlds,
no hive city or forges,
Just civilians sustained by their own ecosystem with agricultural structure,
Essentially just like modern earth,
Too many people don’t realize that not every planet in the Imperium is a hellhole hive world. Civilized worlds make up the majority of Imperial planets; they tend to have a decent standard of living and are relatively normal, just with 40K elements incorporated into them, things like symbols, architecture, etc.
We see the horrible worlds more often because they make for a more interesting backdrop for stories. However, there are plenty of examples in novels that show more ordinary sides of the Imperium.
The issue is that subtle grimdark doesn’t land for some people, so they default to grimderp, where everything in the Imperium is as brutal and miserable as possible. Usually, those same people also assume the Tau are universally good because their grimdark isn’t delivered like a hammer to the face.
Call of Duty fans used to call Halo "gaylo" and Halo fans used to make fun of COD for getting worse every year and Star Wars fans used to call Star Trek lame while Trekkies called Star Wars slop and now both sides of both just mourn the Century of Humiliation for all four
Still blows my mind that someone made a setting where Christianity is fighting the forces of Hell in brutal trench warfare, then threw a tantrum that it was attracting edgy Christians.
That's like making a game about sexualized, anthropomorphic animals and then getting mad that Furries show up in droves. Who the fuck did you think the audience would be?
