The SDDOT hosted a public meeting open house on 6/4/26 to share the proposed design for the U.S. Highway 85 reconstruction project from the WY state line to U.S. Highway 14A (Cheyenne Crossing) in Lawrence County.
The written comment period has been extended to Sept. 4, 2026.
On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, S.D. Highway 38 will be closed to through traffic from 421st Avenue to S.D. Highway 25 east of Mitchell. This Highway 38 closure will be in place for the duration of the reconstruction project through November 2026.
