China’s independently developed “Origin Wukong” series of superconducting quantum computers have completed more than 1 million global quantum computing tasks, according to a joint statement on Monday made by the Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory of Quantum Computing Chips and the Anhui Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center in Hefei, East China’s Anhui Province.

China has invested over 110 million yuan (about $16.15 million) in a conservation and utilization project focused on ancient manuscripts since 2018, including the palm-leaf manuscripts of the Potala Palace, in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, local authorities said on Friday.
Through the three phases of this project, 893 folios of palm-leaf scriptures and 10,401 folios of Tibetan paper artifacts have been restored, while the cataloging of 15,000 folios of palm-leaf scriptures has been completed. In addition, more than 36,000 folios of ancient documents have been digitized and processed via text recognition.

Aging may not be a steady downhill process it may happen in stages
A large study of over 4,000 people aged 18 to 95 analysed nearly 3,000 proteins in blood plasma to understand how the body changes over time. Because these proteins reflect key biological activity such as immune function metabolism tissue repair and cell communication they act as a snapshot of how the body is aging
Researchers expected gradual change across the lifespan. Instead they found something more complex many proteins linked to aging shifted in noticeable bursts rather than slowly over time
These changes appeared to cluster around roughly three key life periods around the mid 30s around 60 and again in the late 70s suggesting that aging may happen in waves rather than a straight line
The shifts were connected to systems like inflammation cardiovascular health immune response and energy metabolism hinting that the body may periodically reorganise itself biologically at certain stages of life
Using just a subset of around 373 proteins scientists were able to estimate a person’s age from a blood sample with an average error of about three years. Interestingly individuals whose biological profiles appeared younger than their chronological age also tended to show better overall health
The research also highlighted strong differences between males and females with a large proportion of age related proteins behaving differently in men and women suggesting that aging pathways may not be identical across genders
Overall the findings challenge the idea of aging as a smooth decline and instead point to a process that may unfold in distinct biological phases

China has introduced strict new regulations for online influencers.
Under the new rules, content creators must possess a relevant university degree or professional certification before they can discuss specialized topics such as medicine, finance, education, law, or health. The policy, issued by the Cyberspace Administration of China, aims to curb misinformation and raise the overall quality of online content.
Influencers wishing to cover these subjects on platforms like Douyin, Weibo, and Bilibili are now required to submit proof of their qualifications. Platforms are responsible for verifying credentials and removing any non-compliant content.
Violators face significant penalties, including fines of up to 100,000 yuan (approximately $14,000), account suspension, or permanent bans.
While supporters view the measure as a necessary step to protect the public from misleading or harmful advice, critics argue that it could restrict free expression and limit diverse voices online.
The regulation reflects China’s broader effort to tighten control over digital content and establish higher standards of credibility in the influencer economy.
PETER LYNCH: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE STOCK MARKET IS TO KNOW WHAT YOU OWN
He says most people can't pass a simple test.
If you can't explain why you own a stock to a 10-year-old in two minutes, you shouldn't own it:
"I'm amazed how many people own stocks. They would not be able to tell you why they own it. They couldn't say in a minute or less why they own it. If you really press them: the reason I own this is the sucker's going up. And that's the only reason."
Lynch then ties it back to Warren Buffett's circle of competence:
"All the businesses you can understand is the most important aspect of investing. If you have doubts about a business being in your circle of competence, it isn't."
His point: you can understand Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Walmart, Costco. Stay inside that circle.
"It's better to be well within the circle than to be trying to tiptoe along the line. My circle of competence is pretty small, but it's big enough."
"American companies partner with Israeli firms because they recognize the value of that innovation cycle. American military organizations gain access to technologies, expertise, and operational insights that would be expensive and often impossible to reproduce on their own"
@PKurzin@general_ben The corruption is part of the system Putin created to retain power. It should have been no surprise to him as authoritarians must not allow competent underlings to accumulate power.
Iranian state TV presenter attacks FM Araghchi during a live interview.
When asked about criticism of the proposed agreement, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei replied:
I think you’re placing unnecessary emphasis on the wording. The real question is whether we want to reach a result or not.
- The exchange comes amid growing debate inside Iran over the reported terms of the proposed U.S.–Iran memorandum of understanding.
In recent weeks, #Iran has dramatically escalated efforts to seal off its cache of near bomb-grade uranium, deliberately collapsing tunnels and booby-trapping entrances with explosive mines, according to five sources familiar with US intelligence.
It certainly casts doubt on the Islamic Republic's intentions and willingness to comply with any commitments it makes regarding the HEU stockpile.

A fortnight ago, Vijay Gokhale observed that China sees Indian democracy as a long-term ideological problem.
The Chinese commentary that followed went to lengths explaining why India does not matter, why Indian democracy is a curse, and why Indian aspirations exceed Indian means.
That vehemence is a tell in itself. Indifference does not produce it.
That India even manages to function at this scale, with this civilisational depth, absorbing its contradictions with a democratic polity, worries Beijing far more than it is willing to admit.
Even after decades of neutralising democratic experiments in China's near abroad (read Hong Kong), the CCP has no template to explain India to its own citizens.

🔴 BREAKING: The Qatari delegation that was in Tehran received Iran’s approval on a final draft deal with the US, a senior source tells Al Arabiya
🔴 The mediators handed the draft deal which Iran approved to the White House, according to the source
@PeterZeihan If this is true, then there is no pressure on him to make a deal with Iran from a domestic political point of view. He could outwait the IRGC.
