BREAKING NEWS | Three suspected hitmen have been shot dead in the Piet Retief area of Mpumalanga.
KZN police and private security members intercepted the men while they were travelling in a blue Isuzu bakkie on the Houdkop border road.
Information suggests they were on their way to carry out an assassination.
They allegedly opened fire on the officers, but died in the subsequent shootout.
Two guns have been recovered so far.

BREAKING NEWS | A wanted CIT suspect has died in a shootout with KZN police in Inanda a short while ago.
He allegedly opened fire when police arrived at his hideout to arrest him.
A gun with the serial number removed was found in his possession.
He had previously escaped a gunfight with officers in Reservoir Hills in March, where three of his accomplices were killed.
The suspect is said to be a leading figure - usually equipped with a rifle - in recent major heists in the province.

BREAKING NEWS | Four suspected CIT robbers have been killed in a gunfight with KZN police on the North Coast.
The intelligence-driven operation - which resulted in a shootout - was conducted by the DPCI Provincial Tracking Team, DPCI Anti-Gang Unit, DPCI NPVC, Operation Vala Umgodi members, Metro Police Special Operations Directorate and Magma Security and Investigations.
The suspects were cornered along the R66 in Gingindlovu, and allegedly tried to shoot their way out.
Four guns, including a shotgun, have been recovered, along with explosives.
This comes after a spate of CIT incidents in KZN over the past few weeks.
