@redjonzaci@rauchg@Tesla I'm aware most people aren't interested in digesting contradictory information.
But if you would like to round out your perspective of Musk & Tesla with an additional source, I highly recommend Wired's deep dive from 2018.

@isosteph I'm late to the party, but I think this is actually the real thing the Nintendo Switch got right.
We have a lot of portable devices and a lot of stationary devices, but very few good solutions for transitioning from one state to the other.
@shreyas I just want to add that the best guardrail I've seen against "incompetent leaders" is listening to the people UNDER that leader.
It is always much easier to spot incompetence when you're the one being managed than the reverse.
Good feedback processes surface that early.
Steve Blank, the Stanford professor, said, โThe first time you see a venture capitalist prosecuted for failing to uphold their duty as a board member, youโre going to see Silicon Valley transform overnight. All it takes is one V.C. doing a perp walk and everyone gets the messageโ
I like this trend of articles calling out the bullshit of American culture in plain language. Something Americans are historically terrible at.

"Everything about the broken incentives and hollowed-out capacities of American society is crystallized in this dumb pod moseying its way along a track to nowhere in Las Vegas."
Exquisite.

No one should be broadcasting Trump's announcement live. He's staging a campaign event, illegally, in the White House. He has signaled his intention to lie about the election. The event also violates local public-health regulations and national recommendations. Take it off air!
@Querydash @ZombiePresident @benyt@oneunderscore__ I moved to California two years ago. I would agree that it's hard to overstate the emotional and intellectual immaturity of Americans.
Americans of all stripes resist acknowledging that something is wrong, let alone that they have a responsibility to do anything about it.
I stumbled on this podcast episode tonight. It's almost shocking to watch two people who don't see eye to eye having a productive conversation.

@dan_abramov I like that it fits the mission of hooks: allowing you to define "reusable stateful logic" without introducing a new component to your tree. And it also nicely parallels the useContext API.
@dan_abramov Has React team considered a useProvider hook? Maybe it doesn't make sense, but it feels like it could be really expressive, allowing you to compose state and providers inside of a custom hook.
This doesn't actually work, but might illustrate the idea:

I just want to share a perspective:
As a white person living in an affluent neighbourhood, the first narrative I encountered was "Violence erupts across the country in response to the death of George Floyd."
I had to look past that to see the more plausible story: "Police are violently dispersing crowds of people protesting the latest case of Police Brutality".
I just want to suggest that if you are hearing only the first story right now: don't panic, and read a little further.
@dellsystem It absolutely did! My own journey was more roundabout; I studied anthropology and sociology for two years before I stumbled into tech.
Initially, tech seemed like a way to circumvent the capital/labour conflict. But four years into my career the myths look thinner and thinner.
I just got hold of a copy of "Abolish SIlicon Valley" on Friday, and I finished it Saturday. It's been a long time since a book grabbed me that way.
Thank you @dellsystem for the personal and timely call to action.
