@stefolan@OurGameHQ Has any one player revolutionised Gaelic football more than Stephen Cluxton??! Transformed the role of GK , laid the foundations for possession football…
@PlayerGaelic We already have the refs making discretionary calls on distance, free kicks, attacking marks etc, if in doubt let play continue!
Penalise with a free in from where the goalie passed it. At the moment with the GK being used as a +1 In defense , it’s made it too hard to press up.
@joeneville2010@SmallerFishGAA Opposing team would just sprint back into defensive position and never press a kickout if a shot clock introduced, it would be awful imo
@JohnnyRC88@Mick28204527 But john, the other side of it is, that despite coach education, many coaches are ignoring best practice and turning kids off GAA in their droves by treating competitive underage games like all ireland finals. If the coaches won’t change then something else has to.
@thetimbermanjim@TimmyHammersley True story: a friend of mine when he was 10 built a sandcastle in a competitive game as the ball passed him by. 7 years later he was full back for the Galway minors and went on to be one of the best ever defenders for our club senior team. These are the people I’m talking about!
@JohnnyRC88 Unfortunately, how do you fix the adults? It’s probably easier to remove the competitions. The GAA realise this. But ultimately, coach education is key. IMO, pick fair teams, let every kid play and let the best team win, but we will never get that.
@JohnnyRC88 Absolutely! When kids pick teams, they pick fair teams! When adults pick them, they pick unfair teams when they can. The problem with competitions is that adults can’t be trusted to run them 😂
@thetimbermanjim@TimmyHammersley Yes, it there’s no score then no u12 cup. Is that a fair price to pay in order to retain the players on the panel who would quit at 11 because they can’t get a game? I think it’s worth it to keep those kids in the system for another couple of years. There will be loads more cups.
@RourkeShane@TimmyHammersley Ever see a kids game amongst themselves where there are subs? Answer: no, everyone plays if the kids are in charge. It’s the adults that leave kids out once a win is at stake
