When we win, the first bill I’m filing is a comprehensive anti-corruption package:
Overturn Citizens United
Ban corporate PACs and super PACs
Ban members of Congress from trading stocks
Once we defeat the most corrupt politician in America, we can defeat this corrupt system.
ABC News' Jonathan Karl reports from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool where workers continue to battle algae – and the new paint job appears to be falling apart.
The Department of Interior did not immediately respond to a request for comment. https://t.co/7TzBngVdyc
Holy shit!! There are huge chunks of blue paint coming off the reflecting pool already…
It seems the peroxide loosened things up, yikes!!
THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE.
CNN: CNN independently took the sample of water and consulted with the pool store that regularly tests water to help read the results. It showed phosphate levels far higher than what is recommended to keep algae at bay, based on estimates for a pool that holds 6.5 million gallons of water.
“If there's already some phosphate fertilizer in the water, that's really opportunistic, especially for the blue green algae that can fix nitrogen. So they are having a field day out here.”
It looks like the Reflecting Pool's paint is already peeling off and floating to the surface.
"It'll last for 50 to 100 years before you have to do anything with it," Trump said of a then-newly "renovated" Reflecting Pool on June 3 in the Oval Office.
Trump wanted to paint the monument what he called "American flag blue," in a project that mysteriously went from costing under $2M to nearly $15M after he handed a no-bid contract to a contractor pal with no experience maintaining important historical landmarks.
Within a day, the "renovated" reflecting pool had begun developing algae blooms and turned a sickly green color — and Interior Department workers have been dumping gallons of hydrogen peroxide into it in a frantic attempt to reduce the algae.
Video shows what appears to be large paint chips floating to the surface, an unsurprising result given how this important site was mishandled and turned into a tacky vanity project.
It's hard not to see the Reflecting Pool as reflecting the current rot and corruption in DC, literally disintegrating under a the weight of backroom deals, dangerous incompetence, and a broad disregard for our most sacred monuments.
Do not get complacent when the midterms roll around — our institutions, treasured memorials, and democracy are literally on the line.
UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell criticizes Trump's White House UFC fight:
Our government is desecrating its role in society by hosting sporting events. Our tax dollars and resources are funding this operation. The government is supposed to protect us, not entertain us.
Robert De Niro: I'm pretty close to being a free speech absolutist. Even speech I don't like. But when I hear something I don't like, I use my own free speech to respond. When I hear Trump say, "I don't think about Americans' financial situation." I say, "shut the fuck up."
This was HEARTBREAKING
Dr. Tanya Haj-Hassan, who volunteered in Gaza, exposed Israel:
"I held a lifeless child in my arms. There was no equipment to save him. This is not a war; it is a massacre of the innocent."
I am not making this up: Secretary Rubio actually sat before Congress today and said “the war is over.”
It’s a bizarre lie to tell when Americans know there’s obviously a war underway - not just from seeing it on screens, but from paying its costs every day at home.
Leaders with this little respect for the American people have no business in office.
Ossoff: American politics is coin-operated. Money goes in, favors come out, and that's why spectacular wealth buys an ever-greater share of power over our national affairs, while the mere citizen is treated with contempt.
Citizens United was the most destructive court decision in modern American history. It's unleashed a flood of secret money, corporate money, billionaire money on both sides.
Zohran Mamdani quoted Tupac Shakur when asked if he opposes the war in Iran:
"This war killed thousands of civilians, so yes, I strongly oppose it— Tupac said it decades ago, we always seem to have money for war but never to feed the poor."
PabloReports: What do you make of this $1.7 billion slush fund that Trump is proposing for Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and pardoned fraudsters?
Raskin: It’s illegal, unconstitutional, and outrageous. Congress controls the spending of money from the federal government, and we never voted to establish a $1.7 billion fund to pay off insurrectionists and his extremist private militias, and we would never spend money on that. So it needs to be blocked. It’s an absolute corruption and prostitution of the Judgment Fund.
I woke up to a message from New Hampshire. A bill had made it to the state Senate — one that Representative Julie Miles championed after watching me do peer-to-peer calls with insurance reviewers who weren't qualified to be making decisions about my patients. I'm a surgeon in Texas. I had no idea this had traveled that far.
Between cases at Redbud today, I fired off emails to NH Senate members, logged into a YouTube Live, and watched HB 1554 pass.
Here's what it does:
✅ Requires peer reviewers to be actual peers — credentialed, named, with their NPI number and specialty certification on the line
✅ Allows physicians to communicate with that peer reviewer at any point in the prior auth process — not just after a denial or on appeal
This is a patient-centered, common-sense reform. And it happened because someone posted something. Told the truth. Did the right thing.
Thank you, Representative Julie Miles and Senator Tim McGough. New Hampshire just set a standard. I hope other states are paying attention.
Get involved. Speak up. You never know what good it might do.
