Safety in work zones is a priority at WisDOT, especially the workers behind the barrels. In collaboration with the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association, we’re implementing a pilot program to evaluate additional strategies to improve worker safety on rural highways.

WINTER STORM ALERT: A second round of snow is expected to have major impacts throughout the state starting Saturday night and lasting through Monday morning. Large amounts of snow and strong wind gusts could result in whiteout conditions and blowing snow across highways.

As winter weather develops today, strong wind gusts could make for hazardous travel. If you're on the road today:

🍃 Slow down and keep both hands on the wheel to control the vehicle
🍃 Keep a safe distance from other vehicles as wind gusts can push vehicles out of their lanes

🚧 Closures Begin Today 🚧
The Buchanan Street bridge over I-41 in Little Chute is now closed until summer.

The French Road bridge over I-41 in Appleton is now closed until late summer.

REMINDER: Parts of the state may see some snowfall today and tomorrow - please watch for snowplows and give them room to work. Many snowplows now include flashing green lights to increase visibility, especially during winter storms.

The Ballard Rd interchange is now open to traffic in Outagamie County! Crews worked diligently through weather challenges to put the finishing touches on the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI).
