The @wistatepatrol increased its enforcement efforts this week to help educate motorists about Wisconsin’s Move Over Law.
Motorists are required to move over or slow down for stopped emergency vehicles. The law recently expanded to include stranded motorists.
#MoveOverDay
October 17 is Move Over Day; a reminder to protect those working and helping on the roadside. If you see a stopped emergency vehicle or stranded motorist on the side of the road:
• Move over when possible.
• Slow down if you can’t safely change lanes.
• Always stay alert.

DYK? Visual impairment affects over 100,000 Wisconsinites. Today is White Cane Safety Day, a national observance that celebrates independence and mobility for people with vision loss. Drivers must stop at least 10 feet or more from someone who is using a white cane or guide dog.
During peak deer crash season, remember to:
🦌 Slow down
🦌 Avoid distractions
🦌 Scan the road ahead, especially at dawn and dusk
If you see a deer, there are likely more.
DYK? There were nearly 18,000 deer/vehicle crashes last year, and nearly 6,000 of those took place in October and November. Deer are especially dangerous for motorcyclists – there is about a 37% chance that a motorcycle/deer crash will result in a fatality or serious injury.
Farm vehicle safety is October’s Law of the Month. With the busy fall harvest season underway, Inspector Cory Shilts reminds motorists and farmers to share the road. https://t.co/IYr8jgp84g
