A good discussion today at the HSIAS Singapore event, where Simon Pettman shared a global perspective on how the supplement sector is evolving.
It was also a valuable opportunity to engage directly with our Singaporean member association, and learn from experiences on the ground.
These conversations matter. They help ensure that, as a sector, we stay aligned, anticipate change and continue to position supplements within the broader health agenda.

On World Health Day, addressing micronutrient deficiencies remains a global public health priority.
Analysis from the Copenhagen Consensus identifies micronutrient supplementation as one of the most cost-effective interventions to improve health outcomes, particularly among at-risk populations.
Targeted use of vitamins and minerals can contribute to reducing deficiencies, supporting normal physiological functions, and strengthening resilience across populations.
Realising this potential depends on ensuring access to safe, quality products, underpinned by appropriate regulatory frameworks and clear consumer information.

IADSA was pleased to contribute to the @NutraGlobal article, “Supplements 101: Influencer marketing in Europe”, reinforcing the importance of clear rules and responsible practices as influencer activity continues to grow in the food supplement sector.
Thank you to Lauren Nicolle for the opportunity to highlight IADSA’s Good Practice Guide on Influencer Marketing (https://t.co/HF2VmF14qW). As the global alliance of the sector, IADSA has put in place practical, sector-specific guidance that complements existing government rules, which are often not designed with food supplements in mind.
Together with our Supplements Good Practice Matters platform (https://t.co/PgS8ykFnqq), the guide helps companies and influencers communicate responsibly, stay within the rules, and ensure consumers receive accurate information.

IADSA reviewed the work that shaped our engagement in 2025 and selected a snapshot that best captures the year. These were not always the most visible moments, but those that best reflect how the global sector responded to emerging signals of change.
This publication offers IADSA members both a reflection on a year of growing scrutiny and a practical guide to the year ahead, highlighting the value of acting early, collectively and strategically as change takes shape.

IADSA’s participation reflects its continued commitment to strengthening international cooperation, and contributing global perspectives to national discussions. At a time of increasing scrutiny and expectation, constructive exchange between scientists, regulators, healthcare professionals and industry remains vital. The UK’s NHS (National Health Service) has reminded the UK population that from October to March, sunlight alone isn’t enough for our bodies to produce the vitamin D we need. To keep bone and muscle healthy, it recommends everyone to take a daily supplement of 10 micrograms of vitamin D.
IADSA welcomes this NHS guidance as a strong example of public health policy recognising the role of food supplements.
